  1. Napa can't get 'em. O'Reilly's say they can but they want $90 a piece. Anyone have a source and part #'s? Or are they getting shipped somewhere and rebuilt? Thanks
  2. Hey Y'all, Looking for a windshield gasket with lockstrip and door window seals for a 1980 Brat. Thanks!
  3. Passenger side of a brat bed, inside the removeable panel. Black, plastic tank with multiple hoses. What does it do?
  4. Not plugged, can see the crack. Not the charcoal canister, that funky black tank in the passenger bedside. Drawing fuel in cause it's cracked? Would love to eliminate it, for now. Guess its time to experiment, just didn't want to stall on the highway cause of some vacuum/pressure etc issue. Thanks for the input
  5. I've got a cracked vapor canister. It drips fuel into the bedside and is filling the cab with fumes and smell. Can I just loop the lines, bypassing the canister, until I find another one? Anything else I need to do to avoid other issues? Thanks
  6. Has anyone ever attempted a 1st gear swap in a single range tranny. Getting ready to tear into mine and would love to lower the first gear for off road. Yeah ,yeah, "just put in an EA81 with a D/R box." I can hear it alreday. Is the first gear ratio in a D/R different than a single range? Any chance it could replace my existing first? Or maybe a first out of a five speed box? I don't want to change the axle gears cause she's already singin' at 65mph. Thoughts, ideas, constructive criticism, and name calling welcome. Thanks
  7. Hey Y'all, outta the blue, the brake and chg light started coming on at idle. If I leave it idling, it will suddenly die. Initially, I could rev it up and it would go out and stay out, staying running until the key was turned off. Repeat that and drive, no probs. Now, it won't stay off after the rev trick, coming back on as soon as it returns to idle. I also need higher revs while driving to keep it off. Load tested the batt and replaced. New battery didn't cure. Alternator I assume? Are the internal voltage regulators adjustable to kick the alt on sooner? Or is it just worn out and ready for replacement. How's the napa rebuild for $40?
  8. Will a camper shell off a Gen 2 Brat fit on a Gen 1? Thanks
  9. Thanks for the tips. Sounds like I should just look for a 1800/tranny combo and swap out the whole enchilada. Is that a pretty straight forward swap or am I opening a huge can of worms? Didn't the first gen style brat in 81 come with that running gear?
  10. Recently picked up a 1980 Brat. It came with a spare tranny and I'd like to convert it to a dual range. Anyone know if its the same case or a totally different beast. If it is, what does it entail to install the d/r guts and shifter? Or am I better off just looking for a complete trans. Thanks
