  1. My EJ22T is completely stock. Just a valve grind and reseal. Here is a picture of everything that comes with the factory AWIC setup. As you can see it has a separate small radiator that has to be mounted as well as coolant lines, pump, etc. I found front axles that didn't have to be shortened. I am pretty sure that they were from a FWD '93 Impreza.
  2. I have an EJ22E in the car right now to keep it mobile. The EJ22T is on the engine stand right now almost completely assembled. The turbo wiring harness is all stripped and finished. I used the engine cross-member from an '89 GL-10 turbo wagon so the exhaust will clear without any cutting. The radiator is stock Loyale. The 5 lug conversion is all done. I used '93 Impreza FWD hubs, struts, springs, and knuckles with Loyale top hats and EA81 outer tie rod ends. The front lower control arms are from an XT6. The transmission cross- member is a mixture of '94 Legacy and XT6. It bolts right in. The 5 speed transmission and rear differential are from a '94 Legacy 4WD, the ratio is 4.11. The clutch, flywheel, and starter are '94 Legacy as well. The front section of the rear Loyale driveshaft had to be shortened 51mm to fit with the EJ transmission installed. The front brakes are Loyale calipers with '93 Impreza FWD brackets (with 1 of the Loyale caliper pins installed), hubs, rotors and pads. This allows me to retain the front parking brake. I am pretty sure I used stock '93 Impreza FWD axles but it's been a while. I added a rear sway bar using the sway bar and trailing arms from an XT4. The rear disc brake backing plates are '94 Legacy 4WD modified to fit the XT4 trailing arms. The rear rotors, calipers, brackets, and pads are from a '94 Legacy 4WD with XT6 4WD rear hubs. The wheels are 16" Enkei Fittipaldi with 205 55 16 tires. I have a stock Subaru '92 Legacy Sport Air to Water intercooler (AWIC) setup that I had shipped in from New Zealand. I hope it will fit as I haven't tested it yet. As far as I know these were never available in the USA. This would let me keep the stock hood without adding a scoop. It's been about a 7 year project so far. It's been lots of fun building it but it's taking me way too long. At least it's almost done. Here is a thread with a few pictures https://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/145759-royal-loyale/?tab=comments#comment-1224351 Thank you for sharing your awesome project! I look forward to more updates!
  3. Nice project! Please keep the thread updated as you make progress. It looks good so far. I have an EJ22T going in to a '92 Loyale. It's taking me way too long to get it done
  4. If you already have the engine out and it's an EA82T I would do the head gaskets even though it has low mileage. Nice looking car!
  5. The small black unit on the speedometer with 2 wires is probably the vehicle speed sensor (VSS). It's probably not used in your car unless you have fuel injection.
  6. I picked this one up, do you think it will work? I am having trouble finding a flange to match the oval shaped port on the lower side.
  7. That's really nice of you. Do you have a picture of it? How much do you want for it?
  8. I need to learn how or where to accomplish this on a custom length driveshaft I have. Thanks for the start.
  9. I have had that same 4 inch SJR EA81 lift kit on my 1983 GL 4WD Wagon for about 12 years now and I am very happy with it. It doesn't eat axles - same ones are still in there and it handles great. I used a Forester steering shaft and it fit right in. I think it was from a '98 or so. I have an EJ22 in mine so I can't offer an opinion about the Weber conversion or the exhaust but I hear they are worth while upgrades. Good luck with your project!
  10. Check with Painless Wiring for the fuse box. I have installed several Painless wiring harnesses in street rods over the years. Very good products and the fuse boxes are nice. https://www.painlessperformance.com/ All my best to you and your family. So sorry for the loss of your father.
  11. I used Loctite 518 flange sealant on mine but you can use Fuji Bond, Toyota Bond, etc just don't use rtv. There is no gasket between the case halves. There is a special oval shaped o-ring in there though.
  12. What cross member are you using? I have an EJ22 and an EJ 5 speed in a 92 loyale with no problems. As I remember I had to use part of an XT6 cross member (was hard to find).
  13. These calipers have problematic parking brake mechanisms. Even if you assemble it perfectly it may not work right. I gave up and ordered a set from Rock Auto for my '88 Wagon. It took me (5) calipers to get 1 set with functioning parking brakes. Fortunately Rock Auto was really good about it but it was still a mess. I wish you the best of luck. If you get a good working set make sure and keep your brake fluid flushed and clean so they last as long as possible.
  14. Can you elaborate on this? Is it the immobilizer technology that makes the newer engine swaps so difficult? Is there a work around?
  15. The EA81 and EA82 do share the same main and rod bearings.
  16. Are you looking for an ECU Pinout? It's in the FSM. You should be more specific.
  17. I am just about ready to put the EJ22T in my Loyale. This step is about 5 years overdue! The wiring is finally done. I am going to need a down pipe from the turbo to the rest of the exhaust. Is there an "off the shelf" down pipe from some other Subaru model that will work? I have an EJ22T turbo flange if I have to have one custom made. I also have a stock EA82T down pipe but it won't fit on the 22T's turbo. Any ideas short of having it towed to the exhaust shop? Thanks for any advice.
  18. What are you using for a down pipe from the turbo to the rest of the exhaust? Is there a bolt on pipe from some other model that will work?
  19. Lil Red has found a new home in California. The way I understand it the engine will be going into one car and the trans into another. At least all of the parts found a good home
