  1. Man that's looking good. Coming along nicely. I especially like the floor pan pic as it gives me a basis as to what mine should look like once I get started on it. I've yet to do anything to the '74 other than get a vintage tag for it. I recently purchased an '05 Saab 9-2x for a DD. Once that is back on the road I'll put the '74 in the garage and start the removal process and tagging items for the rebuild. Anyone know where I can find an exhaust manifold? Mine has a hole in it. Jose
  2. Not enough time with work, college, and three kids. Rebuilt the carb and installed a new water pump. The brakes are pretty much shot. If it sells, I just want what I paid for it. Title in hand. Jose

  5. AWESOME, I'm glad you guys agree. Now, to name the machine. I've always come up with names...crazy coky thing i guess. If I were to keep the green outside with tan interior....I'd name it Avocado!! But white with tan, to me, is really classy. Just don't know. Anyhow, the wheels are what's gonna make the grade on this car. Jose
  6. So I asked a fellow to photoshop the car in white with a flat-black hood and some wheels(imagewheels.co.uk) and here's what he came up with. I think it looks amazing.
  7. Ooh, changed the water pump yesterday. SOOOO much quieter. Brakes are pretty much shot. I need shoes and wheel cylinders all the way around. Any suggestions as to where to buy?
  8. A small victory....I managed to find the Haynes manual on Craigslist for $5! Well, it arrived yesterday and I now have all sorts of specs for various engines. Having these specs I decided to take a look at why my engine ran like a turd. I double check spark plug gap and points gap. I also verified that the ignition wires were in the correct order. Finally, I adjusted the "octane selector" to the middle. That final adjustment was the key. She now starts without having to spray fluid down the carb and she'll also stay running. Only thing is now I hear an odd noise which I think is the water pump. Oh, I added an air filter and changed the oil. I'm so excited!!! Up next......brakes
  9. Perfrect, sounds like the culprit alright. I'll double check it tonight. I had to take the battery for charge. Luckly for me Autozone checks and charges them for free.
  10. I'm gonna have to get your phone number and call you. I did find a 91 loyale wagon AWD 5spd at the Pull-a-part today. I was wondering if the front brakes would work. I haven't looked at those scans, but I did save the images to my computer. Should be helpful. The vacuum line I'm speaking of is a regular small size(same as vacuum advance) and comes out of the air cleaner housing at about 11 o'clock. From there I have no idea where it's supposed to go. 11. Have you tried taking and cleaning the EGR passage way. I know that on newer Hondas( I'm a Honda tech) the clooged egr will cause driveability problems. I'd say clean it, re-install and clear codes. Jose
  12. Okay, here goes a serious question. What are the chances of taking an 81-82 Brat floor pan, drivetrain and have it welded into my '74 chassis? I know it's a big undertaking. I may have found one at the back of used car lot. It's rusty and has the fenders removed as well as the front glass. This model is a t-tops and those are in decent condition. I will post pics of the Brat if I get it. If I do, my plan is to somehow transfer everything off the Brat and have it put on the '74. This would be EPIC. 1.8l 70+hp motor & AWD!!! This would solve some much. Then it would be off to paint. Hee Hee Hee. Jose
  13. Datsun- thanks for the specs. Moosens- I'll be on the hunt for some front discs and proportioning valve as well. I'm glad to have seen the vid. See, there is a vacuum line coming from the air cleaner(about 11 o'clock) that I have nothing there. So at least, by looking at the vid I have an idea of where that line goes to(pass. side shock area). I really don't think I'm going to use the OEM hubcaps.....I only have three anyhow. PM me and we can work something out, I have no idea what you are talking about with those copper rings. A crate motor would be AWESOME. Also, how can I correctly find the paint for the air cleaner? Thanks again everyone, this is great. Oh, I bought the book from another vendor. Still waiting to hear from the guy with the engine book. Jose
  14. Purchased my latest project....a 1974 Gl sedan. Look in the historic Subies section. Going for the Old Skool Corolla look. I'm hoping a nice white paintjob, with flat black hood, and some black fender flares. Jose
  15. I noticed that in your first post you were looking for a speedo gear. I know I have one but from a WRX 5speed trans. If that will work, then shoot me a PM. Jose P.S. those were 3.90FD if you need that type of info.
  16. That would be great......ebay.au has Weber all over the place but pricey. having the valve lash would be nice, although I have yet to look at the underhood sticker. I know that older Honda's had them on the emissions sticker. Going to the salvage yard tomorrow...there's an 80's wagon there..maybe the front discs will work? Um, not sure what else I may be able to retrofit to newer. I'll take some pics of the wagon at the salvage yard....maybe someone else here could use something. Jose
  17. Do post some photos please....Curious to see what a running/driveable one looks like. I'm really amazed at the work that I'll have to do. I still have to sit down and plan this rebuild accordingly. I really just want to be able to drive around that is it. I'll paint it and go to some shows. Nothing crazy. For now, the brakes and fuel delivery/valve lash/timing issue is what I want resolved. The exhaust manifold is leaking.....need to find some gaskets for that. Lighting issue will be looked into after I get her running right. Oh, anyone know where I can get a full engine gasket kit? I'd really like to freshen up the motor. Jose
  18. Actually, I miss my previous litre bike '04 ZX-10R....now...a WR250X. I'd really like to see about selling it to fund this project. Before the Kawi..I had a RC51. Miss that one too. On the front disc conversion.....I'm in. I'm a little worried about driving a car with drum front. Seatbelts....whatever I can find that will keep me in there. I rebuilt the carb today....good news and bad. Two or three of the screws holding the top plate are stripped. NOT GOOD. Accel pump still leaks, not sure why. Car is now leaking coolant from driver side if ran for any length of time. Driver front brake drum is rusty, doesn't seem to be working at all. I'll bleed brakes with fresh fluid later...too cold. I've contacted the seller of those ebay items....that would help tremendously.
  19. I have to get some sort of "plan of attack" so that I can systematically fix the issues with the car. For today I plan on working the carb. I have no idea what the timing should be and for that matter the valve lash. I know I'll be needing a new clutch as the cable is at the last of it's adjustment. Another thing I saw was the steering bellows boots are torn....easy fix there. Jose
  20. I'll try to send him this link through Nasioc.com. Maybe he'll get it there. Jose
  21. thanks, I'll be needing it for sure. Starting on the carb tomorrow and we'll diag. the brake issue. Jose
