  1. Thanks for all the replies! I'll be sure to stay away from it at the pump.
  2. Hi all. I have a quick question and I'm 99.44% sure the answer is no. Can a 1999 OBW run on E85 fuel? It seems to be $.80 - $1.00 less than 87 octane and we're going on a trip from the middle of WI to Tulsa and that would save a lot of coin. Thanks.
  3. I thought about a metal bumper and skidplate thingy, that would rock! Also I've heard if I were to put Forester springs on my car it would lift it some. Is that true?
  4. So I wrecked my car and need a lot of front end work. I have a 99 OBW, but I don't really want the stock bumper cover. I was curious if the cover on a GT or Brighton was any shorter and if it would fit. I want this for 3 reasons. First I would think the smaller bumper would give me a better approach angle for off-roading. Second I don't have the oem driving lights and don't want to pay to have them replaced when I can get some after market ones instead. And last I think it may save me some cash with a non-Outback cover. I have a $500 deductible and figure after the estimate I'll tell the repair shop not to put in new driving lights because I've heard they are $100 each and the other cover. So that is why I was wondering if all the bumper covers on all the Legacys of that design are interchangeable. Here are some pics of my car Oh yeah, the story. It snowed, as you can see, and the road was slick and I ran into a telephone pole dead center. Thankfully my airbags did not deploy and my radiator is not broken. I was doing snowdrifts all morning and no problems, I drive like I am supposed to and hit a pole, oh well.
  5. After a few off-road trips, on purpose and accident, my heat shield between the exhaust and driveshaft is all bent and stuff. Now it rubs on my uv joint until I go and bend it around again. So how bad would it be if I were to remove this thin piece of aluminum?
  6. Thanks all! I only do it in the snow so I tell myself it's not as bad then, lol. I am having so much fun with all wheel snow drifts and we are supposed to get another 6" or so tomorrow, woo hoo!!
  7. My OBW has a slushbox so I obviously can't push in the clutch when using the e-brake to do snow drifts, but should I put it in neutral? That is what I have been doing but I was wondering if I have to.
  8. Well I got one off a 96 OBW and will put it on tonight, it was even the same color car. $50 + tax, don't think that is too bad.
  9. Aw come on Lawson, it's not that bad, lol. So does anyone have a spare one laying around?
  10. Just how important is this part? Can I continue driving without hurting my car? I wasn't paying attention and ran off the road and went a bit airborne and landed in a corn, or something, field. It broke on the driver side right by the bushing that holds it to the frame. Right now it's being held together with JB weld and lots of Duct Tape. If it is really important, where is the best place to get one and can they be taken off any 96-99 Legacy? I've been on Jeep trails, jumped my car over an intersection, gone off the beaten path tons of time and a field breaks my car, dammit. The only other damage was breaking my fog lights - they were $45 at Auto Zone cause I broke the OEM ones off roading last year - and lots of grass, mud and crops in my bumpers, lol.
  11. Thanks. I like the fact it turns off the lights when the car is turned off. Not that I ever left my lights on, but when you stop to get gas or something it's just cool. My 74 Beetle would turn off the headlights when the car was turned off.
