  1. hi everyone, my 86 gl water pump gave out. I was looking online to get another but there's too many . If somebody could help out it would be appreciated. I have an 86 gl with an ea82 engine, factory installed(?) air and front wheel drive, automatic trans, 4 door. thanks for any help.
  2. Hi all, I finally found the tube lift info from Markus56, I have an 86gl sedan that I want to lift. What is done for the rear lift? Is it the same as posted using the bolt under the rear seat to raise it? Thanks for any info. Will post pix when it happens. Also how do you drop crossmember? Do you need some kind of spacers and is it difficult?

    86 gl lift

hi all, I want to lift my 86 gl sedan 2". I saw plans for steel tubes and blocks that could be made and installed without much hassle' but can't find them now. I don't do any off road stuff just want a little more clearance and maybe some higher tires. any help would be appreciated. thanks
  5. a while back i came across pictures of a lifted gl 4 door. I'd like to find out who did the car and what is needed. thanks for any help:-\
  6. i was just reading about the wheel swap techniques . I 've done some machine shop work and there are things called transfer punches designed to center pench a hole to be drilled. I don't know how large they make them, but it might be an option to check out.

  10. hi all, being a new soob owner i'm confused by all the terms and lingo used on the forums. I have an 86gl sedan with a 1.8 engine and auto trans. I know it sounds stupid but what are the terms that go to my soob (ea82, etc) this way i can know what to look for in the forums. thanks for your tutoring:confused:
  11. hi all, I have an 86gl auto and live on a back road in pa. I would like to lift it because of the snow that will be coming. Is it a chore, since I never did one and this is my first soob. thanks for any info
  12. hi all, I have an 86gl with a 1.8 eng and auto trans. The ECS light comes on after the engine runs a short time.I also noticed a lack of power on acceleration and on hills. I replaced the plugs and wires but got little help. I also checked the timing but wasn't sure if i did it right. this is my 1st foreign car and don't know if i missed something in the process. I had the timing belts replaced and oil pump resealed a while back. not much change after that either. Thanks for any help.
  13. I just did a caliper on an 86gl with the e brake on it, after removing the piston and seal in the caliper. I was having a hard time getting the piston started on the screw insid the piston. I removed the e brake cable and pulled the lever to make the screw higher to install the piston. I wired the lever to keep the screw higher to get the piston started on the screw.i hope this can help someone , it made it easier for me.
  14. hi gary, maybe i'm confused(probably) but some of the brake rebuild tips offered by members said the piston should be removed to inspect and clean out the caliper. something about plating coming off piston because of corrosion. mine was sticking, and my son ground the rotor to scrap.
  15. looking forward to restoring my 86gl
