  1. I am wondering...... Can I put a forester front bumper (the lower rubermaid part) on my 90' legacy? I alrrady have the motor, trans., and suspension on it, but am wanting the more agressive front bumper. I will have to buy it so I am wondering if it could work? Thank you guys for anyhelp that you can provide.
  2. Just got a 90 Legacy on 98 Forester "s" suspension, right now it has a 5spd and AWD. I would like to take the trans. Setup out of an older model and give myself selectable 4x4. My only internet is on my damn phone so I have been hunting for links but it is slow going. If anyone could point me to a good write up on the subject I would greatly appreciate it.
  3. Ok so I just bought my first jeep with what I was told was a slight lifter knock......uh huh. Any way after overheating and flooding it out I finally got it home where the lifter was now banging like a pot drum and then proceeded to blow thebottom of the piston arm through the oil pan. So I guess my question is can I replace just the one piston or do I have to do them all? Will have the head off anyway to do the gaskets but money is an issue so the less parts the better. Thanks for your time guys and I hope I can get asmuch good Jeep info as I do Subie stuff from you guys.
  4. I was lookin at the sedan on one of the nw washington offroad videos and was wondering if anyone might know who owns that rig, or what they did to get the clearance under it?
  5. Hey guys I have a 91 Legacy wagon and am trying to get 28-31 inch tires to clear my struts. Spacers are already in consideration but I would like to keep the slim profile, I don't mind having to chop and cut the body so no issue there. any advice would be great........... Yes I have read the offroad FAQ aswell as many of the post on the matter, and I am still confused. So if someone could please just say "This is what you do...." , or "no you ********************* you'll break it!" that would be great. thanks
  6. Hi guys, are there any struts out there that can be modified to fit on a 91 lego? or is there any way to get clearance for larger tires w/o the OB or Forester struts? I only need to fit 27-29 inch. tires and I really dont wanna have to lower the d/t to do it. Not lookin to make a monster....yet, just need a rig that can keep up with the rest of my wheelin buddies. Any help would be great thanks guys.
  7. I have a 91 lego with the 2.2 a/t and every now and then the idle will jump up over 1.5-2 grand and hang there for a couple secondsand then drop back down. anyone have any ideas? anything will help. thanks.
  8. Ok I'm doin my oil pump and seals and I found a kit that has a gasket for the pump itself. All I have seen is people using an adhesive sealant, any feed back on whether I should use the gasket or no would be great thanks guys.
  9. Ok I looked around and did numerous searches and didn't find what I was lookin for so now I ask.... anyone have a link to a good oil pump seal thread? I just need to know if there is an special procedures once I have the pump off and am replacing the seal and "o" ring. Thanks in advance guys. Oh yeah its a 91 legacy 2.2 I believe, if you can tell me how to properly I.D my engine I would appreciate that to.
  10. sorry.... 91 legacy EJ22? and its the "O" ring that is near the crankshaft seal? It is for the oil pump I believe, I'm not to great with the names of things. (Behind the main center pulley/gear)
  11. I am wondering if there is anyway to keep my timing belt in place and still take the crank case off so I can peplace the darn O ring. Anyone got a trick so that I won't have to go spend more money I don't have re-timing this thing? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.
  12. Damn... ok . Kinda sucks just did belt water pump and pulleys but skipped over the seals:-\ thanks a million though, saved me countless hours of staring at the bottom of my car. (I am startin to hate that view)
  13. Ok on the front of my engine on a 91 Lego, there are two cylinder shaped pieces with hex key heads, right in front just under the timing belt and infront of the oil pan...... What the heck are they???? and would they be able to cause an oil leak if not adjusted right?
  14. Where did you get that bumper??? I want!!!
  15. What ever it is after 10 min of driving it has recovered almost all of the places I wiped off. Gonna throw some jack stands under it and let her run in the driveway for a while....... if I have all four wheels off the ground its ok to put it in gear and let them spin some right??? Because I let it run for a bit before and no leak, drove to my mail box (30 yrds) and it was leaking again so I guess I got some work cut out for me in the next couple days.
