  1. Here's the wiring schematic for a 98. I have limited experience working with and reading wiring schematics. My some what educated guess on what is need and what can be eliminated is as followed. Eliminate the trans control module, used for AT models only and not needed for my setup. Not sure on its function though. Eliminate the check connector, data link connector and wiring to OBD II port. If wiring to the OBD II port is needed then I can always add that to my port but not sure why it would be needed. Also unsure on the functions of the check connector and data link connector. Eliminate horn relay wiring since I'm not using the factory Subaru cruise control sub switch. I believe this is only used to supply 12v to the sub switch. Add only brake switch which will require a special mount to be integrated with Vanagon brake. I might be able to tap into an existing brake light wire and avoid needing to use the brake switch. If brake switch is used it will need 12v power. Add main on/off switch to Vanagon dash. Will need to be supplied with 12v. Add sub switch which is an after market Audiovox part number 250-3593. http://www.rostra.com/aftermarket-cruise-control-switches-by-rostra.php Will also need 12v supplied to it. Add second VSS which will be mounted to the back of speedometer. Add wiring to cruise control pump which will be installed in engine comport near actuator. Cruise control module will be installed under the dash. All 12v will be pulled of ignition. Would appreciate any feed back or thoughts from wiring experts. Thanks, Matt
  2. Wow, Just realized I have to many forums to keep up with. This project was put on the back burner when I added a poptop to my van. It's now time to revisit this project and hopefully get a functioning cruise control system in my van. I guess I'll answer some of the questions. First off the engine was pulled from a 98 Legacy, it's a single port EJ22. I'm using a VSS which is installed at my rear CV joint. I'm planning on adding a second VSS which would be mounted onto my speedometer and used only for the cruise control. I have pulled a number of items off of a 98 Outback that had cruise installed. Items I have are cruise control module, brake and cloth switches, cruise control pump, cruise control actuator and main on/ off switch. I purchased an after market controller because mounting the Subaru control switch would be tough since its originally mounted on the steering wheel. I think my biggest hurdle will be the wiring. I have considered going aftermarket kit route but feel I could get it accomplished using Subaru parts and save a few bucks, actually a lot.
  3. I currently have an EJ22 in my Vanagon Syncro and would like to install the cruise from the donor subaru. Wondering if anyone on here has done this or any threads documenting the install. My main hang up is the wiring and what would be needed and what can be eliminated from the cruise system. Thanks, Matt
  4. Just became a member. The wife has a 2004 Impreza and will need the TB changed out in the near future. Hoping to find some useful info on here. I have some mechanical experience but wouldn't consider myself an expert. I would just take it to a mechanic but think I can pull this one off and save some money, just added a little girl to the family on 10-10-10. Plus I want to get some experience with the 2.5's for when I do an engine conversion in my 87 VW Syncro. Matt
