  1. I'm looking to buy another Subaru. What's a good year and model? I've only owned older Subarus so far, a 1985 GL and a 1985 GL-10. I found out the hard way that OEM parts for these older models are becoming really hard to find. Should I stick with GL's and Loyale's or look at Legacys? Thanks!
  2. Rock Auto will try and sell you the Carbone axle because it has the lifetime warranty. Don't do it, get the EMPI (Empius) axle.
  3. Already had three offers. She may be finding a new home.
  4. What are the symptoms of wheels bearings that are going out?
  5. Do you guys have your Soobs set to the highest adjustment? Is it worth it?
  6. Thanks General. I'm getting about 25mpg I believe.
  7. What's the lowest weight I can go in my 85 GL-10? Lookin' to maximize fuel economy.
  8. I swear I just saw this for sale on CL. I don't want to sell the car but I would sell it if the right buyer came along. Otherwise, I'll just keep enjoying it.
  9. Thanks! Its not perfect a few nicks and imperfections. The car is old! The trim could use replacing, it needs a paint job, and a few other things. I'll post some other pics tomorrow.
  10. I'm in Snohomish County, beatiful day today. Subaru show? Awesome! I've never heard about that.
  11. Took these today. All original, 52k miles.
  12. It's fixed! Car runs fine. The culprit? A bad ECM, actually, two bad ones. My original ECM was bad and the one that the salvage yard originally sent me was bad as well. I just got the replacement and the car fired right up, grounding issue is resolved.
  13. Metrinch tools, buy a set. http://www.metrinch.tv/ I bought mine at Sears over 15 years ago and have used it on American and imported cars. I swear by these. Plus, they are designed not to grab on to the corners of the bolts but the flat parts of the bolts. I've been able to take almost completely rounded nuts off of anything with these.
  14. Okay, here's what I'm getting. I removed the circuit board from the ECM housing so that I could get access to the back of it to test the components. From left to right, the top right corner of my ECM picture: T702 0.982 T401, the green one, gives me 3.052 The last one, unsure of the number, gives me 2.623
  15. I found a D702 and a T702. The T702 is a square vertical black piece, 1 of three pieces along the inside of the wall of the ECM. The D702 is buried on the bottom near that plastic glue, oblong shape. I've got my autometer on diode test. The manual says: Touch the test probes to the diode under test. Forward voltage will typically indicate .400 to .700V. Reverse voltage will indicate "OL." Shorted devices will indicate near 0V and an open device will indicate "OL" in both polarities. Sounds like Chineese to me lol.
  16. The photo of the Q702 transistor in Stickeyed thread is located at the top left corner below the cooling fins on the outside.
  17. Here's a pic of my ECM The problem is, there is no transistor Q702 listed on mine.
  18. Do you have a pic of where that transistor is located? I'm having the same problem with my ECM.
  19. I have seen that thread but where's the pic he's talking about showing transistor Q701? I never found it.
  20. The Subaru part number on the top are all the same, the second row of numbers below it are different. With my existing ECM, with my grounding the fuel pump to the body, it starts fine. With the replacement ECM, I don't need to ground it to the body (grounds works fine in test mode) but the engine will not crank, nothing.
  21. Its an 85 GL10 turbo 4x4 automatic with approx 52k on it. The part number of the ECMs are all the same. Althe the housing for the salvaged ones are black and my original is electroless stainless steel.
  22. So, I've got my car back finally from the mechanic who didn't know a thing about fixing electrical issues. Short story, after I attempted to jump my car from a dead battery, I blew a fusible link and some other mysterious grounding issue developed. The mechanic insisted that it was a grounding issue, not an ECM issue. Not wanting to take his word for it, I decided to test it myself and buy another ECM. This is the very strange part. My existing ECM provides no ground for the fuel pump, I have to ground the pump at the source for the fuel pump to work. The ECM that I got from a salvage yard, however, DOES provide the ground signal to the fuel pump but after I take it out of test mode (green connectors) the card doesn't even turn over; fuel pump works, car won't start. So, it appears that something this is an ECM issue and not a grounding issue like I thought. I'm going to try another ECM and see what happens. What you do you guys think?
  23. Okay, so I've got to figure out if my ECM is working properly. I could buy another one, but I thought someone would be kind enough to let me plug mine into their Soob and see if it works. The story is that I'm not getting a ground signal to my fuel pump. I've got an 85 GL-10 Turbo. I need to see if the ECM is preventing the ground from getting to the pump or if its the ground going into the ECM. Thanks!
  24. Keep in mind thought that only one other ECU has been tried. Frankly, I don't even know for sure if he did that. What I really want to do is to test the ECM that I have. What the best way to test it. I'm not an an electrical whiz and I could use some help. Then there was that post I found of someone else's ECM working fine but the ground for the fuel pump did not work; which is why I have my doubts over it not being an ECM problem.
