  1. Ok I will get the one off the older intake manifold, it looks to have the same line size and plug-in, it does look a little bit different though. Thank you for your help. -matt
  2. When I was installing my intake manifold and connecting vacuum lines I accidently broke off a small section of hose that has a one way check valve on it, that went to a small (1.5 inch square) box that has two wires to it. I Curios what it is and if I might be able to use one off an 85/86 intake where as mine is an 87? Or could I carefully glue the nipple fitting back on and call it good? Here are some pics.. The best I could get for now sorry
  3. I'm wanting to run my ea82t timing belt coverless, but from what I've seen other usmb users leave the one back piece just under the water pump. Is it useful to leave that one on or can it be removed along with the other pieces of the timing belt cover assembly? Thank you -matt
  4. Has anyone ever tried to put a rear window wing/ dust spoiler from a forester on say a gl10 wagon? I saw a forester with the shelf style spoiler on it and thought it might look interesting on a wagon.
  5. Got my intake manifold gaskets and the turbo bellmouth gasket order from dealership. So today I drained my fuel tank and did some more random tasks that needed to be done before the car is road worthy.
  6. The upper picture of the plugs is what my 87 gl10 has for plugs and the lower picture is of the doner engine that I'm going to use the longblock from. The plan it to use the 87's intake and dist. and all the wiring and put it on the 85/86 longblock. My understanding is most of all of these parts are interchangable withe the exception of the obvious plug difference? -Matt
  7. Im making progress, today I got the intake manifold off the new engine (86) and startingto clean it up and going to order OE intake gaskets tomorrow. It's getting there!
  8. So when I go to swap the intake should I use OE gaskets or just some nice aftermarket ones any advise or suggestions? I'm excited to get this thing put together and out of the garage!
  9. Cool, so I can use my 87 manifold on the 85/86 block? Just do a little switcheroo?
  10. Why would these plugs be different even though they are both ea82t engines? this is the wiring that is on my 87 gl10 and this is the wiring that is on the ea82t I just got. I'm confused.
  11. Hey, do you still have that ea82t longblock you were telling me about? How much are you wanting for it?

  12. The spark plugs are all out though, so that rules out hydrolock right?
  13. So I pulled the engine last night and put it up on a stand. I'm hoping to dive in and see what is keeping it from turning over. I feel like it could be rusty rings cuz the HG is blown, rather than a bearing or something seized. The oil i drained out looked pretty clean (no metallic grit, burnt smell or watery) Any advise on how to free up a piston with the head off? I'm going to pull the heads and work my way inward in hopes of figuring it all out. PB blaster has been pretty good to me so far. Thanks for your input in advance -matt
  14. I pulled my engine out tonight and put it on a stand. All went pretty smooth. Now I need to tear into the ea82t and see what is causing it to not turn over. I'm concerned because of the 5 years it sat and prob rusted up the rings. So if anyone has an ea82t longblock in the southern Oregon area give me a holler! I'll prob be needing one.
  15. I got everything disconnected and the radiator out today. I'm ready to pull the engine, just need to get a hoist! So far so good though. Next couple things... Drain the fuel tank and figure out what is holding my engine from turning over? (once it's out)
  16. This is all good info, thank you guys for that. I'm going to try to pull the engine out on my next days off, pull the heads to see what the hold up is. Prob better to do that first then go track down a long block of mine is unsalvageable. -milesfox what is the routing around the pcv port you were mentioning? Is that if I find a non-turbo block?
  17. Yeah I need to check around the wrecking yards around here to see what they have. sometimes they have specials like, carry or drag it through the door and it's $50-100. So I hope I don't miss out on that. I put a WTB ad on here so far just engines from Washington (14 hr round trip for me) so I hope I can find one a little closer.
  18. Yeah there is a ton of hoses and stuff disconnect, I plan on taking a lot of pictures of detailed spots and tape and sharpie marking the the connections. Any helpfull tips beyond what I said?
  19. Hello, about that ea82t what does CCR mean? Im in medford OR so Washington is a pretty good drive. How much are you wanting to get for it?

  20. This is true! I just need to track down a short block ( know of any around southern OR?) and a engine lift. Im not used to this engine out the top deal, I'm an air-cooled VW out the bottom guy. But not for long I guess.
  21. The passenger side cylinders are where the leak seems to originate from, the front cylinder filled up with antifreeze when I filled the radiator and the rear one I can see what looks to be a price of ring going across right below the plug threads. I think that since the leak seems to be on the side that looks the most haggard, is it possible that just the one side overheated and seized up? What should I do next? Pull the engine and look for a short/long block and swap it out? Seems like the most practical way.
  22. Today I tried again to turn it over by hand, no luck. This engine is a gonner I looked closer today with a lamp an I think I can see a chunk of ring in the passenger rear cylinder. So Im guessing the PO had that leak start under the head and it overheated and seized? Is that possible?
  23. . Dripping from the fitting in the center of the picture?
  24. So I let the combustion chambers soak for a little more than a day and it's still bound up. I was suspecting a head gasket leaking and causing it to rust up so I checked the radiator level and topped it off and since the plugs are out it filled up the front passenger side cylinder and is dripping off of some fluid fitting on the head. So I guess it got parked and rusted up the rings. So I guess I need to track down a short block EA82 so I can get this beast on the road. I will try to get pictures if they would help but I can't upload them from my iPhone
  25. I understand that, but if it comes down to needing to put a another engine in it seems like a more durable Ej would be worth the work. Mainly Im curious if it's easier to swap an EJ22t rather than a EJ22? I would much rather the ea82t just free-up so I don't have to do any swapping or engine pulling.
