http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/96433-axle-rebuild/?do=findComment&comment=811297 Here's another good link for rebuilding your old axle. I've done this myself and it works wonders for reviving one. If you're going to reboot your old axle i highly recommend doing this first if you have the time. If your original axle is in decent shape to begin with this will make it like new again and will last you many more years. Definitely worth the trouble if you can do it.

Limited lifetime is that they will replace it as any point in its lifespan but only once.

http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/114267-advice-for-longer-cv-joints-life/?view=getnewpost Check that thread out. Also make sure the lifetime warranty you're getting isn't a limited lifelong warrant.

Your old one+ sorry. Using a phone.

Very common. Remanufactured axles are terrible. If your of one was fine, take this time to disassemble it, clean it out, regrease it and put new boots on it and reinstall it. If you're going with remanufactured axles get lifetime warranty.

My GL is high centered on a mountain of ice. Three days ago i was stuck again and i pulled it out with a chain with the Loyale. I used the securing hooks on the rear pass. Side of the Loyale and the front drivers side hook on the front drivers side of the GL. I know these weren't meant to be recovery points but i needed to get the car at that moment. I bent the front hook on the GL. I'm at work right now and have to get the car out after. I don't have a long chain, maybe 3 1/2 foot. Is there a better place attach the chain in the same areas of both cars? I'm afraid the front hook ifs going to rip off the GL and I'm not sure how the rear hook held up on the Loyale, i didn't look. Thanks much.

aftermarket fans sell on eBay pretty cheap, they're really easy to install and they're more efficient than the 20+ year old one on your car. just replace it.

looks pretty clean. personally I wouldn't go any higher than 2k. and that's if nothing needs fixing right away. ideally I'd pay about 15 for. that's me.

did mine! skip to 1:30 as the first minute and a half is me waiting for traffic open up. I counted 20 seconds. plain Jane 87 carb 5 speed on stock tires.

Bring on the leaks... uh oh?

look in the how to keep your Subaru alive book and there is a nice illustration of the EA82 cooling system. it will show you those two hoses I mentioned before. bypass hoses. I guarantee one or both of them are leaking. -

Keep an eye on your rear view while climbing a hill at speed for steam out the back. Just went through this 2 weeks ago with my GL. It was a bypass hose that split in me. Take the whole air filter assembly off and look at two small diameter rubber hoses. One comes off the thermostat and one goes to the intake manifold just behind the carb. -
FWIW I've heard of a few people getting away with stock fuel lines. Might want to read into it.

Agreed. I've noticed that it really starts to pull (...for what it's worth) at around 4250. It starts suffocating at around 5300 and above.
-
Are you being sarcastic? Haha jk, that's a damn fine point. I'm on stock 13s. Both cars.

Start up when cold engine and high rpm.
l75eya replied to Suba_GL_87's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Those rpms are bullseye accurate for spfi. Cold starts are around 2200 2500 rpms and when fully warmed up will automatically kick down to around 1k. If you like you can kick it down yourself before it's warmed up but it'll still be at around 1500 until it's warm. -
Spfi or carb? That's right at my times. We should drag race.
