  1. well since we are discussing it. Here are the rust spots I have...rear fender wells obviously, some rocker panel rot, and some rust at the bottom corners of the front door and front fender where the meet. i think thats it.
  2. I retract my previous statement. WOW, looks like an Ohio car! any pictures of the repair process?
  3. ive got rust in pretty much the same spots as you. although my fender wells are a little worse, and some on the rocker panels.
  4. i like the idea of seam welding and sealing up anything that could get moisture/salt into them. those west coast guys dont understand the hell our cars have to go through with the salt.
  5. When I was changing my alt/wp belt, i decided to leave of my PS belt (not a big fan of PS, but if i go with bigger rims/wider tires I know ill be wanting it back) will any damage be done to the rack? all the fluid is still in it.
  6. caboobaroo, Ive had the same thought, building the ea81 control arms. Im gonna send you a PM, maybe we can bounce some ideas back and forth.
  7. ok i looked up their site...looks like if you sand with 600 grit and primer you can paint right over it
  8. would this stuff be suitable to do the entire bottom of the car? what about using it after some bodywork on rusted out wheel wells....could you put this stuff on then apply your paint over it? Are you guys using the their Metal-Ready prep surface stuff as well? Are you applying 2 coats? Im very intrigued by this product. Living in Ohio, this stuff my be the ticket.
  9. what did you have to do to get the ej ball joints to fit? what year wrx? O and what knuckles?
  10. great build but im slightly confused so ill ask here. tell me if this sounds right. 1. XT6 control arms 2. EJ hubs 3. vw struts 4. what rotors/calipers are you using? 5. what tie rod ends? 6. legacy tranny 7. shortened EJ axles and ShawnW....what do those axles fit that you have pictured?
  11. one more for ya...if I was building an autocross ea81...what would you guys recommend for the ultimate suspension without going to something extremely exotic (like sti suspension). something that would take some modifing but nothing to crazy. im thinking ea82 front suspension with 5 lug swap, coilovers, addco swaybars, rear disc swap.
  12. THank you very much General..and everyone else who responded as well. Now...question...if I happened to swap over ea82 front suspension...which front sway bar would I want to use? ea81 or 82?
  13. I seen on ebay that there are several front and rear swaybars from addco. Says they fit brats and other older subarus. Are these things really for ea81 cars or is it a misprint?
  14. Thank you very much. Do you know what the difference is between auto and manual radius rod plates?
  15. need to know where these suckers are and what they look like so we know when we go to pull them off. THanks guys.
  16. thats the plan, i was just seeing if there was anything small i may be forgetting.
  17. im dealing with a car that is currently an Auto trans...i hear that it has a bigger tunnell (according to Phizinza's site)
  18. OK So i just want to make sure 100 percent that I have this correct: Is this 100% the list of things I need to do this swap? Flywheel Tranny Tranny Crossmember Clutch Any console/shifter pieces Clutch Pedal with brackets and cable Driveshaft Gas tank Rear diff Rear diff hanger Rear diff hanger mounts Rear suspension with torsion bar Rear axles rear brake system Thanks a million guys. Once i get this conversion done maybe ill stop asking so many newb questions
  19. Ok so here is what I have decided. I will run just the factory EA81 4 speed d/r until I do an EJ swap, and the use the EJ tranny.
  20. I have finally located everything for my 4wd/MT swap. Are the torsion tubes the same, or interchangable, between both models? Thanks! I some how posted this in the wrong place...can this be moved or deleted?
  21. is the car your talking about an ea81 or ea82 car? what year? If its an EA81 id be intrested in everything to do my 4wd to FWD swap...except the tranny if you want it.
