  1. The window needs to be in the closed position, then you'll easily be able to pull the little plastic clip that holds the lock activation bar to the lock cylinder, then take the flat metal clip that's holding the lock in place.
  2. I'll go out and take a look at it in a little bit. If I can get it figured out then maybe I can pickup a bulb in town tomorrow.
  3. Well I just went and checked it out and although the pump is running and the fluid level is almost full, there's none coming out onto the rear window. Tried to see if there was fluid going anywhere else, but no signs of leakage that I could detect.
  4. That sounds pretty sensible and I wish I'd thought of doing that myself! Thanks! Mine's a 2002 and as 987687 said, I've got the one with both pumps on the main tank. I could have used this info last month though when I was searching all over the back of the car looking for the rear tank!
  5. Has anyone else had this high of a loss just due to fuel problems though? I'm still buying fuel at the same place as before my mileage got so much worse.
  6. Tried doing a search and couldn't get past the search engine so I'm posting here for info regarding the shifter indicator light and how to get the cover off. The couple of net searches I did came up with different years or models.
  7. Thanks for the tip - I'm going to take a flashlight and go look at mine right now! Now can anyone tell me where first to look when the rear washer doesn't work, even though there's no trouble with the front? I know there's a separate pump, but just thought I'd ask for the voice of experience as far as where the first place to look should be.
  8. Evidently yours is different from the one on my '02 Forester. I was able to take all three screws out just day before yesterday, and the fan was all full of leaves. The low setting was louder than the 3rd setting before, but it's pretty silent except on high now, not to mention better airflow. Make sure you pull out the filter and clean it out while you're at it.
  9. Not the same problem as you have here, but the passenger door on my Forester was replaced and they never thought to pull the old lock cylinder from the door. Last month I pulled it apart and took it in for $15 to get it worked over - now I can even open the passenger door with the same key.
  10. Thanks for this post. I bought my car with two pairs of identically sized tires of different tread patterns and was hoping I wouldn't have to change tires just because they weren't exactly the same. I'll get some new tires when I get back to work, but for now I'm good apparently.
  11. If the car is running okay then I'd go ahead and just change it out because either it's going to take care of your present tranny or it's going to go bad anyway.
  12. I've been thinking of rewiring my fog lights so that they would still work with the high beams, because they offer so much better coverage for the sides of the road, which is where moose always seem to erupt from. I'm sure people in areas with heavy deer populations would benefit from this operation as well.
  13. I just had the same thing happen. I fixed some oil leaks by replacing the valve cover gaskets and missing spark plug access seals, new plugs and wires. Went from 23mpg to 26mpg, then the last three fills have dropped down to 19mpg.
