  2. Hello,

Hey I was reading your post from 2007 about makeing 6 lug conversions. Do you still offer that?

  3. (and you might want to extend the radius rods on the control arms out so you dont have to beat the firewall in)

What ride would you get those from, and or, whom do you buy them from?

  4. 4 inch is the way to go it leaves lots of room for a tire of substantial size 25.5 up to a 30 I would stick around 25 to 27 with the stock motor and you might want to extend the radius rods on the control arms out so you dont have to beat the firewall in

  5. Hello

I am in the process of building a 1987 4x4 wagon for my sons first ride. Next month I am gona buy a lift for it. 3 in front, 4 in back? Maybe 2 and 3. not sure . Working with limited funds. I want his car to be cool but pratical. I read your thread and was hoping you could share your knowlege and exspeariance with lifting my sons wagon. Thank you in advance for your time.

  6. The clutch fan - usually they spin with a little resistance. If it doesn't spin at all it's probably bad. I just throw them away personally - they are only equipped on cars with AC. The electric is the primary fan.

  7. You can run either - both are capable of 50 psi if you dead-head them. In the case of the SPFI pump it's regulated down to 21 psi at the injector. In the case of the turbo it's like 35 psi..... you won't get any benefit from running the turbo pump - it doesn't change anything. The SPFI regulator will still drop the pressure to 21.

  8. Hello

I have spent the better part of today on the net and here(usmb) trying to determine if there is any reason NOT to run the fuel pump off the EA82 turbo, on the SPFI. Trying to find something some where that tells me what pressure the 2 different pumps produce. I was wondering if you might know??

  9. Hello GD.

I was not sure how to tell the difference between a good clutch fan and a bad one. If your holding it in your hand and it spins with some resistance, is it good or bad. I have two of them. One spins, the other dosen't. I just don't want to throw the wrong one away.

Well keep up the good work. I think its cool that you take the time to help as many folks as I've seen in all the posting that I've read this last month. Have a great day.

  10. Well Sir,

My sons car is up and running like a top, for a car with nearly 3oo thousand miles. its almost like new. Thanks for your input. It was really appreciated. I hope your still here when I do the ej22 swap. Do you have any thing put together in regards to the ej22 swap. I sure would read it if you did. I think I read most of all your post. At least pertaining to what I was doing this time.

Anyway. Thanks and have a great day.

  11. I sure do appreciate you takeing the time to read my post. Like you said, "had I only thought about it a little bit harder". I was just stuck on, if you turn it 360 degrees. Its back where it started at. Right?. Your input sure has been a BIG help. Thanks again

  12. I'm doing well thanks :)

The manual is probably misleading. It actually doesn't matter which side it up and which is down. I know that sounds funny but they do have to be 180* out of alignment on the EA82. The proper "by the book" method for belt installation has you install the first belt with the mark on the pulley straight up. Then rotate the engine 360 degree's and install the second belt with it's mark also straight up. The end result is that they will be 180 out. And if you think about it hard enough you will realize that it doesn't even matter which one is where. I always put the driver's side up and the passenger side down and install both belts at the same time. Then you can install the distributor - just find TDC on the comp. stroke of the #1 cylinder (front, passenger side) and stab the distributor in so the rotor points to the tower you wish to be #1. Then install the plug wires in counter-clockwise order of 1,3,2,4. Hope that helps.

  13. Hello again GD,

How are you these days, well I trust. I am attempting to r&r the oil pump seals on my sons 88-gl/ea82. And in the manual they show how the cam spockets and valve timeing marks are supposed to go. I've been doing all this by the manual. But with the correct fly wheel marks where they are supposed to be. The passenger side cam sprocket is just like in the photo. But the drivers side cam sprocket is 180 degrees out. The car runs good. But a previous owner has been in there before me. In my mind, if I aline the marks like the book says. The drivers side cam is going to be 180 out. unless I move the alinment pin. I seriously doubt the other person whent to that much trouble to make it wrong. And it runs. Am I just not understanding the instructions? Do you time one side at a time? Can I just put it back together like the manual says? Are any of the valves pre-loaded when evrything is alined correctly?

  14. No - the '85 turbo distributor will not work on the SPFI. It would have to be an '87 or newer for it to be the same. The SPFI requires the optical pickup crank-angle sensor to work which the '85 and '86 turbo did not have.

  15. The boys are steering you in the right direction IMO. The Mass Airflow Sensor is the next suspect. See this thread.

Hello, Hey I tried finding the above mentioned thread. And i'm not sure if its me going about it wrong, or maybe its not there. I am trying to learn all I can about the Mass Air Flow sensor on my 87 gl 1.8l. Any help is MUCH appreciated
