  1. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I guess that my original post was not totally clear. The head gaskets will in fact be replaced under warranty by the dealer. BTW: What is the "stupid plastic oil slinger"? thanks again....ralph
  2. I need to replace the head gaskets (again) on my four cylinder 2000 Legacy Outback because of coolent leakage. My dealer says that there is now a new gasket design that should prevent this from happening again (I sure hope so). The Outback has about 68,000 miles on it. With the engine pulled there will be easy access to many items (such as water pump, timing belts, various seals). My question is: Are there any items that should be replaced because we will have easy access even if they look ok. thanks......ralph
  3. Setright: What do you mean by: "MUCH better sound track"??? .....ralph
  4. I am thinking purchasing a new 2005 Outback. I see that there are 2 engines available with the same horsepower (a turbo 4 and a 6). I would appreciate any thoughts as to the relative merits (and demerits) of each engine. thanks....ralph
  5. The Mastercraft Avenger LSR in the P225/60R16 is rated: 98H 420AA. Also, it appears to be made for Town Fair Tire (a very large chain) as they are the only CT dealers on the Mastercraft dealer list.
  6. It will soon be time to replace the Firestone Wilderness tires that came with my Outback. The Wilderness tires handled well and lasted for about 65,000 miles. I need some sugggestion concerning replacement tires. I'll probably keep the car for another 50 or 60 thousand miles. I'm in New England and snow performance is important. My local Town Fair Tire store has recomended Mastercraft Avenger LSR tires (H rated). Any suggestions? thanks....ralph
