  1. wow I never thought I'd see that car again. You bought that from a dude in Ellensburg last year? it was my buddys car, i wanted to buy it but didnt have the flow. glad it went to a forum member!
  2. ohhh I thought I read somewhere that the other end connects to the clutch pedal. i'll have to take another look. one question first though, I understand that the neutral switch might be throwing those codes, but would it affect how the car runs? I cleaned the Iacv and that helped a little so now i'm addressing the a/f sensor. the dealership fudged up on my order, giving me a rear o2 sensor instead of the front one like I specified. I realized this after taking off the front one and seeing that one had a male connector and the other a female.. anyways I ran the car without the front o2 sensor and it acted the same during idle, but worse. it sounded choppier and was more constant than after the iacv cleaning. does that mean the front o2 is working, but not perfectly? perhaps a cleaning might help? I have till tuesday to figure out if it's not actually the o2. would be nice since they want $230 for it instead of the $170 I paid. pucking fuddles.
  3. I unplugged what I think is the neutral switch and the car wouldn't even turn over. I did some reading and thought it was the the one with the green and brown wires attached to the clutch pedal. I reattached it and it started right up. Did I unplug the wrong thing? I'm cleaning the TB right now and IACV. They were both VERY dirty so hopefully a good cleaning will change something. One thing I noticed is that the gasket is broken. I'll go to the dealership and buy a replacement.
  4. So I went wheeling the other day in my 2000 OBS, went through a big puddle and my car nearly stalled as I exited it. I caught it right before it died and gave it a lot of gas. It then started running really weird. The idle would jump from 1k to 1.5k over and over again. I limped it home and started looking at things. I initially thought I got water in the intake but after tearing apart my intake and taking out the spark plugs I could not find any signs of water. even so, I took off the ignition coil and other sensors on the intake manifold and dried them out with a space heater. after doing that the car started up fine so I let it idle for 5 minutes and the sporadic idle would start again and not go away. when i'm actually driving the car, it sputters around 2.5k and won't let me go above 4k like at all.. sound familiar? Today I had my buddy hook up his phone to my car and he found those two codes. he cleared them and we restarted my car and the the p1507 came back as soon as the idle started doing the weird thing. he said that usually cars idle rough when the o2 sensor isn't reading correctly, which would be p1133 (the air/fuel sensor). what do you guys think would be the culprit? as it is, I have to call into work tomorrow because I can't get there and have limited funds to buy a new part that doesn't fix the problem. I'm going to clean the IACV tomorrow and see if that fixes it. if not I think I'll replace it as it might be the bigger issue out of the two. any thoughts on this?
  5. hmmm interesting. I took the spark plugs out and tried to launch any water out of the cylinders but nothing came out. no water or oil on the plugs. I'm changing the oil and may just get some new plugs and wires. and dry stuff out again when the sun comes out.
  6. Here's a little teaser from the Tahuya trip. At mud lake or whatever it's called. I swear it looks bigger in pictures. that back tire was like a foot off the ground. I thought I was gonna flip for sure lol I had a really good time out on the trails. It was my first time at a legitamate ORV park and I learned a lot about the strengths and weaknesses of my car, right now it seems to have more weaknesses lol it was a successfull shakedown I noticed that my car has a tipping point where it wants to roll vs. flex due to the unibody. pretty sure it also has to do with my car not being heavy enough to fully compress the forester suspension too. it made for some semi- sketchy moments for me today haha I was once again reminded that I needed a snorkel.. I went into the a pretty deep puddle and I thought my car swallowed some water, because it was running in limp mode till I got home. Still is actually. the idle jumps from like 1k up to 1.5 and then back down over and over.. and when I am driving it cuts out power. I changed the air filter out with an ebay cone because it got destroyed some how but its still running like ************. I couldn't find a drop of water anywhere in the intake. right now Im drying (what i think is) my MAP sensor with a fan. hopefully that works. What else could I check? another thing I noticed on the drive home was shaking at anything above 2500 rpm. get home to find that the driver side bolt for the trans x-member is missing..wtf, going to tacoma screw tomorrow to get a new bolt.
  7. goin to tahuya tomorrow with my offroadin buddy. I'm gonna take it easy I think because I still have a CAI and no skid plate. Heard its a fairly easy trail and good for beginners so we'll see. pics to follow
  8. yeah they werent suber low pro but they weren't what i was looking for. they were high performance all seasons or something of the like( idgaf))))) anyways get paid on wednesday, so Im building a snorkel out of pvc
  9. ohhh nope those are lonnnng gone. sold those quickly after I bought it. some jackass at the dealership put them on 235 low pros on a stock suspension car. it rubbed like crazy with any weight in the back seat haha so I upgraded to OEM
  10. yeah I had a speed limit sign skid plate and when I got stuck my first trip out it bent to hell when I got pulled out. Do you think exhaust shops could mod my stock header and just add some extra length to one side? that would be ideal because I don't know how to weld.. either way i'm gonna have a 1/4" thick skid made. do the bighorns come in anything close to a 27 or 28? i'm not trying to push 30's yet haha
  11. I'm pretty sure this was taken when I had the rear end jacked up to put the tires on. I tried to take the car to les schwab but they said they couldn't touch it because it has a body lift so I had to load up my gf's civic with 2 grabbers and 2 wheels and make two trips I also liked the second look, but my tastes have changed as well as plans for the car. The original plan was to build an STI swapped rallyx car... now instead of a 6spd i'm looking at putting in a 20+ year old 5spd dual range not sure if you're talking about the green wheels or not, but those are the same ones i'm using now. just painted. I may keep the current wheel/tire combo as my winter set in which case the snowflakes will see neon paint once again. maybe get some dynapro mts to make keaton happy hahaha I think eventually I will end up getting some UEL headers. As hard as I try to convince myself they're a waste of money, as soon as a subie goes rumbling past me I catch the bug again. just gotta figure out if they will clear a skid plate.
  12. Future plans -5spd dual range -1/4" skid plate -brush guard -Tuck exhaust up a bit -snorkel (to replace the CAI) -taller springs? -roof basket w/ full size spare -truck bed line the interior -fender cutting and bashing for bigger tires
  13. I've been trolling this site for about a year after after I first decided I needed a lifted subaru. As a college student, I only had a part-time job, part of the time I was in school, so modding was usually slow. After seeing a bunch of wrxs with 1" lifts and grabbers on dirtyimpreza I realized that imps were pretty capable if you can squeeze some tires on there. So I began doing research on forester lifts and started collecting parts in January. I didn't want a subtle lift, I wanted to be able to take it on trails and 7" of ground clearance won't do it. I bought 04 FXT struts, 1" paranoid fabrications butt spacers all around, and the Outback body lift components and netted 4"ish inches on stock tires. I just put on some 215/65/15 General Grabbers so it's about 5" over stock. onto some pics first it looked like this (June 2009) then it looked like this then after the lift got kinda stuck So I bought new tires The last picture is what my car looks like today. My buddy just bought that jeep today and I kept up with him pretty good on the trails.

    The Pale Horse

that thing looks sweet! what are the specs on it?
  15. Hell yeah! your forester is sick and that water crossing looks intense. What's your overall ground clearance? looks like 12"+
  16. Cheers Bennie Info on that leggy? that thing is dope!
  17. My " 1" " lift haha forester xt struts and 1" strut spacers. I'm workin on tires
  18. I lifted mine using FXT struts and 1" strut top spacers, and the legacy spacers helped me. CV's don't click at full lock anymore. lowest point on my car is 8" and that's the cow bell hanging off the tow hitch haha Our cars may look invincible, but when you get in the real deep stuff they run out of steam lol a D/R would definitely be handy and for sure in my future, probably distant future though sadly. This thread has been an inspiration for my build, as well as a nice guide on how to get there. good job and keep doin what you're doin man
  19. Ok cool. thanks for breaking it down. so an extra 1/2" is 12.7mm extra clearance, which should fit perfect because the increase in tire width is only 10mm from stock.
  20. Thanks a lot man, maybe I should just ask you these things on FB haha gonna go with a 4" backspacing then cause they don't have an option for 5". do you know what the backspacing for stock subaru alloys is? I could measure but i'm not at home atm
  21. I'm looking at diamond racing pro series in the 15"X7" and I'm not sure which backspacing to get. I wanna run 215/75/15 general grabbers and they will definitely not fit with my current backspacing. I have about a centimeter from my 205/55/16's to the strut so I need the backspacing to stick the tire out about an inch or so to clear the strut. anyone use these on imps?
  22. I want an SJR lift now! looks great man
  23. I'll be workin' at Fort Flagler this summer.. hopefully they'll let me off so I can play! I'll be bringing my 4"+ lifted obs to what it can do
  24. havent swapped any thing out but the struts so far and its working out alright for city driving. only got clicking at full lock on 1 turn, and a little rubbing on right turns on the passenger rear tire is hitting plastic box.. idk what it is but maybe it will go away. Gonna be driving my dads pathfinder to school on the east side and gonna hit the junkyard to see if they have any of the outback spacers. Even though its driving fine now I don't want to foul anything up
  25. too late lol. got em welded, hit them with a hammer a little and came up with this still waiting for it to settle a bit, but overall a pretty painless install. got about 4.5/5 inches with just the struts and strut spacers =]
