  1. I got a little over 30mpg on a round trip to/from Boston. 99 AWD Impreza Wagon w/ EJ22 and 5-speed.
  2. Learn to use your brakes to kick the rear out.. and I'm not talking about the E-brake. Enter the turn to the point where your front wheels are on the edge of breaking loose, transfer as much weight to the outside side of the car as possible and roll onto the brakes and watch as the rump roast end kicks out, while keeping enough gas to have the front pull you back out. Takes a bit (note: a lot depending on how smooth you are) of practice, but its alot easier, cheaper, and more satisfying than chopping your drivetrain to bits and just hammering the throttle to whip the back out.
  3. Alright maybe I confused the dual range as a locking diff.. transmission/differential knowlege isn't one of my strong points yet Thanks for the info though, I'll take a closer look around the boards to pick up some details I may be overlooking..
  4. Alright, I know its auto w/ locking 4wd but I haven't gotten underneith it yet to grab a code/part number (too much mud, too little time). Whats the difference between single and dual range transmissions?
  5. (Got referred here from I-Club) Here's my deal.. I have an 83' GL-10 Wagon with an EA81 (Double-barrel carb, N/A), but the engine is completely shot (Chewed a main bearing, carb is totalled, high milage, etc). What I'm wondering is what engines will bolt into the chassis without custom work being done? I hear the EA81T is rare as hell, and I'm not sure if the EA82/EA82T will need custom mounts or not. Also, anyone got a site with specs like drivetrain (trannys/fronts and rears inparticular) that came with this car? Any help would be appreciated.. thanks!
