  1. Started to biopsy the car today, believe it or not... it's not as bad as I thought.
  2. Got some help from my 15 yr old today. Pulled bumpers, fenders, front valence and got a better look at what I'm in for. Rockers are toast (which I knew) and rear must have taken a decent hit at one time but I like metal work and other the mechanicals and interior are in good shape and all the weird trim pieces are there and in good shape. Metal work to start in the next week or so after my oldesr's SS is done. Luckily it came with another set of fenders. Note the pile of dirt and rust.
  3. Figured I'd test my plan out for the finish... Pretty happy with the way it's turning out.
  4. As soon as you attach the battery. I assume I just hooked something incorrectly.
  5. Last time I posted a question about my Justy in the "90s" section I got run out on a rail so I'm coming to the people I know and love. Just installed the motor in my '91 Justy (drove it for a couple years previously) and I keep blowing the 60amp fusable link when I hook the battery up. Got a short somewhere, any suggestions where to start?
  6. Picked this '79 up last month after waiting 6 months for the owner to return to state... $300 and 500 miles round trip and its home. Same deal as the BRAT, lots of metal work ahead of me... but I had to save it.
  7. I've decided on a name... "Katrina"... Because "we will rebuild!"
  8. Build it and drive it. I'll get a build thread going in the next few weeks.
  9. Brought this home yesterday, I'll start a build thread next month on this. Plans are to get it rock solid (mechanically and body), save the patina and turn it into a survivor daily driver.
  10. I finally made it to the First Gen Group!!! Picked this up today (very hard to find in Alaska). As they say, it's rough... but it's all there. Plan is to fix rust (primarily rockers), I have replacement fenders (will be painting and distressing), interior is nice shape, will polish out and clear coat the patina and throw on a set of snow flakes. Traveled 375 miles round trip to pick it up. Home Sweet Home
  11. Looking for someone experienced with rebuilding EFI Justys. Need a few tips on rebuilding and timing this odd little motor. Thanks ahead of time.
  12. Just picked this up today for my son. His first car, runs really well but needs some serious TLC. Looking forward to building it with him.
  13. The grommets are the main clips that's run down both sides and along the tail gate, I think you need 10 or 12 total. The clips go on either side of the tail gate where the chrome trim curves, you need one on each side. Sounds like we're able to call this case closed.
  14. So these are available. Unless there are cries for after market I'm going call this case closed.
  15. Alright folks, I went by the dealership for a little recon (and visit the BRAT) the other day and have some good news... 1.) They have the original parts manual for the BRAT (which I will be digitizing). 2.). The parts in question are all "currently" available, all be it a bit pricey ($3-8 each?!?) 3.). I ordered at least one of each clip needed and will be scanning to see about reproducing so we can get the cost down. Here is the trim clip page with part numbers for your ordering enjoyment if you want the originals. Stay tuned...
  16. Do you have part #s or a direct link, I couldn't find them on the site and I went through all 34 pages. Thx
  17. Good call. I have a good one, I'll get measurements off of this and reverse it for the opposite side. I'll go by the dealership tomorrow and get part #s and pictures of the pieces (maybe even locate a set) so that we can get this rolling. I'm thinking we'll want to cast these in resin vs 3D printing as I don't want these to split when a screw is put to them or crack when they are snapped into place. If I can't find the clips I might be sending out a call to action for folks to send me old clips so we can take measurements, they would all be returned. Stand by...
  18. Sounds like a plan. I'll check with my local dealership... If they can find a pair somewhere I'll get the'this moving on my end.
  19. Alright folks, my son has the technology and the skill to create a file and print these. I need good pictures with dimensions or one each of the clips (they will be returned) so we can take measurements. Who can help so we can bring this dream to fruition!
  20. Great find, especially on that side of the pond. Always loved those, keep us posted.
  21. Just put a new one in and it sounds like I put the pin in wrong. Sucks but I'll worry about it next time around.
  22. Or you could graft in a BRAT t-top section in between the A and B pillars.
  23. Don't get the over revving thing, but have fun.
