  1. If I need to replace the high pressure hose and resevoir O ring how do I purge the system of old fluid?
  2. A PS problem just surfaced during my trip from Johnson City, TN to Cleveland, OH. The PS pump started to whine. I found the fluid in the resevoir was low so I filled it. Whine went away but now when I turn the wheels left or right I meet intermittent and inconsistant resistance. If i turn into a right hander it fells like the steering is power assisted then it's not then it is. Could the solution be as simple as replacing the fluid and possibly using a conditioner to unstick a pressure relief valve? or do I have to replace the pump & fluid? If so how do I flush the old fluide from the system?
  3. Engine Misses under load: resistance of all injectors around 11.7 ohms; stethescope test of all injectors indicate they are functioning across a range of RPM (2K to 3K); ignition coil primary resistance of 1 & 2 low 0.1 ohms, secondary OK; all plugs firing; miss is most pronounced under load - Is this an igniter, cam sensor or crank sensor issue? Don't want to just start replacing parts.

  4. Managed to strip the threads in the block when I over torqued the head bolts when I was reassembling my EJ25. Thought I would try a helicoil kit but the recessed threads require an increased clearance hole diameter. I have no problem doing it but wondered if anyone had successfully tried it before? Are the helicoil thread inserts strong enough to hold the head tight. I need to thread # 3, 4 and 6.
  5. Thanks MilesFox I'm right in the middle of the mess, I thought I learned from the 1st Suby.
  6. Thanks ShawnW. Hey does anyone have a way to remove frozen front ball joint retaining bolts intact? I don't want to twist the head off the right side bolt too!
  7. Thanks all, found the push button switch under the dash and followed the directions on the yellow label. Engine starts and runs great, just waiting for the oil leaks to appear.
  8. Just relpaced my 1998 EJ25 with a 97 EJ25. Hooked up the battery and the warning flashers are blinking. Why are they flashing and how do I stop them?:-\
  9. 1997 Outback wagon had a 1998 2.5L engine. It now has a 1997 2.5L engine bought it used. Want to replace the Phase 1 engine with a Phase 2 and prefer the SOHC.
  10. Will swap require engine, ECU, and harness? Will engine bolt to the 1997 std. trans?
