  1. Well I just hotwired and it seems to be working. Thanks for the help
  2. Well I just but a splice connector between the ignition (large black) and the blue wire with the red strip. I used the blue with red strip because that is connected to the positive on the new pump. I'm not sure if that was the correct one but the other black wire did not have a connection at the harness plug. Its working, so the black must be working as the ground. Thanks everyone.
  3. Fixed it. It was a bad OPSU. Must have grounded out.
  4. Put on new weber carb on my 82 GL Wagon 1.8, before the install my oil pressure was reading fine. Now oil pressure maxes out at the top of the gauge whether the sending unit is hooked up or not when the ignition is turned on. I am going to replace it with one from my donor motor and see if the OPSU (oil pressure sending unit) is the problem. If the OPSU was not hooked up shouldn't the gauge just read 0 like when the ign is off. So possibly this could be the gauge?
  5. Thank you for the input, sorry for not mentioning the Year Make and Model it is an 82 GL Wagon w/ new weber carb and now new fuel pump. I believe now that the FPCU may possibly been the problem that caused the carb swap in the first place. Please refer to this post http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=25539 but now I have all the new components and just want this darn thing to run. Should I by pass the FPCU and wire it into the ignition switch? Would I also need to wire in a switch for the electric choke? And do any of you know if an 82 has a FPR and where that might be? There are two relays above the FPCU but they may just be blinker and flasher switches. Haven't got that far yet.
  6. Thanks for the input, I've been racking my brain trying to get this fixed. I failed to remove the majority of dash components before my parts car was crushed, so I do not have a spare FPCU. So now I'm considering doing a hotwire, it would take one less part out of the equation. Would I also need to hotwire my choke to a switch? I think I fried my FPCU when I wired my pump backwards, because thats when it stopped. Thanks again Oh sorry the car in question is my 82 GL
  7. I have a related question, I was having similar problems and have not fixed it yet. I replaced the carb with a new weber and all of a sudden the fuel quite so I replaced the pump with a new one. Now I am not getting any power to my pump. Here is my question, where is the FPCU located, and what does it look like? And the wiring diagram shows a fuse, where is that? Thank you for any help.
  8. I have checked most of the fuses under the dash, but not all. And yes I am having someone trying to start the car while I check for power. Let me go check the other fuses.
  9. I installed a new fuel pump and now I'm not getting any power to it. Does anyone know where the fuse is for the fuel pump control unit. I swear I had power a couple of days ago. HELP
  10. Explain more, I'm interested in the idea but don't quite follow you yet. If anything I'm interested in the portal hubs. I've heard someother comments about them. Is there a link you might know about.
  11. Here is the deal I picked up another set of 81 Hi/Lo running gear and was considering building a 4wd tube chassis wheeler. Mostly for the sand and some dirt action. I have only seen one picture in the gallery that is similar to the idea, but I'm sure with all the subarus out there that some others have done this. Just looking for ideas.
  12. Ok total F UP on Les Shwab's part, they ended up being Road Tires guess I'll have to order 27's Sorry guys, guess I should have waited to get all excited, the 27's are somewhere around $75, $88 installed.
  13. I'm interested, but I just found the local Pug Salvage, so I have to check there first. When is the Subaru Show, do you have details?
