  1. old oil pump that we took apart cleaned and resealed all the check valves were cleaned and lubed with assembly lube when put back into there proper place it didnt have this issue before which is what is puzzling me
  2. went out and messed with the oil pump a little as i was having low oil pressure at idle and put the last parts on it then took it out to seat the rings. im seriously doubting my dads compression tester at this point it runs way to good and way to smooth and pulls to good to still have 100 psi of compression still having oil pressure issues at idle once its hot not sure what the deal is any ideas?
  3. nope no need thats what the gaskets are for no leaks so far
  4. very glad someone watched the video i was worried because its so long people wouldnt watch it
  5. got the subaru all back together it seems to run better and the motor is a lot tighter then before but according to the compression tester the results havnt changed beginning to suspect dads prehistoric compression tester but its still hard not to feel defeated after going threw all that and seeing those numbers
  6. well today i got it put together and ready to drop the rebuilt motor in tomorrow tried something new and recorded the whole think its a little long
  7. bearings are in tomorrow spoob starts happening
  8. adding these to the list BRAND NEW main bearing set ordered these for my rebuild and my parts supplier says there for an early ea71 main things to take into account is that the thrust bearings are identical they do not have the lock tabs offset as apparently the later ones do but they are brand new i still have the original box only thing i dont have is the shrink wrap just looking to get what i paid of them $30.00 + shipping the lock tabs i mentioned above again these are BRAND NEW BEARINGS someone has to need these things
  9. unfortunatly not a clue it has the full internal coolent passages instead of the cross over pipe so my guess would be a later engine near the end of the 1600 life span
  10. hit a snag today here are the old bearings these are the new see whats wrong? one lock tab is in the wrong place the 5 other main bearings are perfect but 1 of the trust bearings has the lock tab in the wrong spot calling my parts supplier tomorrow about it cleaned up and painted the radiator and fan set up while this pistons soak in the dip
  11. this is how we started today head off first peak in the bores bell housing/ timing cover off oil pan off wrist pins were giving us trouble tools for extraction video of the halves coming apart everything laid out on the bench this is what the bores looked like got the hone out bores afterwards painted some parts bores after a hone now question for you guys is this a ghetto white trash or other hot tank
  12. i would highly suggest changing that rear set up stacking spacers is almost as bad as stacking washers
  13. spent the day cleaning the crap out of the engine and bay tomorrow or sunday parts start flying
  14. lol i know what you ment i was reffering to sjschlag saying that tires are kinda hard to find hey arent hard to find finding OFFROAD or PERFORMANCE tires in 13s is difficult
  15. tires hard to find? dude any tire shop carried 13s there not very good tires but tires none the less
  16. hey man you provided the extra set of hands to get the engine up and out of the bay as for whats comming not much just a re ring job
  17. with a help from stewartkb loaning an extra set of hands motor is out
  18. i dont understand why it completly null and voids the point of the vehicle and come on the subi comes with a 1.6 even my tired ea71 in a wagon got about 30 mpg so metro mpg is possible with the original drivetrain so why codswallop with it?
