  1. Thank you guys for the info, next shot I get I'll stick my head up the dash and see if I missed something under there. Plus maybe a new thermostat.
  2. Yeah, I think I stuck a 180 in it to make sure it would'nt overheat, so you sayin' I should go with a higher temp one? Blower is goin' good just low heat. Heater hoses are exactly as they were before I changed heater core. Also, with the risk of sounding like a total idiot, where is the water control valve ?
  3. Ok guys here is my situation. 87 dl wagon fwd 1.8 no turbo. Just put in new heater core, radiator, coolant and still the car has almost no heat. Yes the system has been "burped". Anyone know where I should troubleshoot next or maybe an old or current discussion that talks about this? Also does anyone know off hand where the fresh are vent is located on this car? Thanks.
  4. I guess they have pretty nice led lights at wal-mart that fix the problem but just thought it would be nice to have the stock lights working
  5. Also changed instrument panel bulbs because they didn.t work while doing this job and they still don't work. Is this a relay problem or something else? Any thoughts someone.
  6. To start off thank you to anyone who replies to my problems with and educated or informative reply. Just swapped out my heater core and the buttons to chane it to defrost or heat that are controled by vaccum lines do not work. I think the problem is the lines that come in on each side by the kick panel. Does anyone know exactly where these lines connect. Thanks for reading.
  7. Ok so the rust took care of the paint for you.
  8. Just curious. What's the dry ice trick? Most off the cars I drive dents are the least of my worries, but this one got me interested.
  9. I just got started on a set this past fall doing it myself but got to cold out before I could finish them. I might suggest spraying them with an aresol stripper first, cuts right through the factory paint. Then scrape the excess of with an old scraper. Wear gloves, that stuff burns like hell, ecpecially in cuts in your hands. Then start going at them with the wire wheel. Are these wheels the curved spoke or flat? If curved, maybe get your hands on a Dremel tool with a smaller wire wheel for the tight spots. Don't know how much experience you have if spray painting stuff but don't forget to clean them with something before putting on any primer and paint. Hope any of this helps.
  10. Thanks for all the ideas. I will check the teeth on the belt. The rotor does have a set screw but would'nt I have found it in the dist. cap if it came out? This car has 180,000+miles so if it was the original timing belt it held up pretty good eh?
  11. Thanks guys. Both belts still there. Someone else said I might have broken shaft on distributor. Thoughts anyone?
  12. I hope I'm not wasting anyones time on an issue that might have already been discussed in another thread if so let me know which one to read. Driving my car on freeway at a consistent 60mph and with no indication the motor just shut off. Tried restarting with no luck, gave up and had it towed. Checked the distributor and rotor doesnt move when trying to start. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  13. Don't know if you solved your problem with your lights since it was a month ago but you might want to check the relays. I was just having the same problem.
