  1. $20 paint job. Then took some pics with Zem's beauty.
  2. Got some fiberglass fenders from O.C.D. And started rigging them. The tops of them seemed warped, like they're bent inwards. Also found a broken hood hinge.
  3. Nothing yet. I took it for an Etest and they booted me claiming I have an exhaust leak. On a vaca right now, and I've got a 84 hardtop to swap. Get it legal is step A. Are brat and wagon fenders the same?
  4. Probably gonna keep it fe. I've converted cars to 4wd before, not real interested with this. More show then go here. Gonna do a resto mostly. The current drivetrain is in almost perfect condition. Need some valve cover gaskets, oil pump gaskets and maybe fiddle with the carb.... Smells a bit rich. Might put an exhaust on it, it's all totally original, even has a spark arrester type tip. The car is so original I don't want to do much. All the cool old stickers are still on it. First question, should I be adding lead? Owner manual says 90 or better octane and California versions require unleaded.....
  5. I just bought this. Yeah... It's blue :| Clean one owner... Not sure what I'm gonna do with it yet. Little drop, clean up the rust, maybe a bit of paint. Fender mirrors and smaller bumpers? Drove it home from Wyoming.
  6. Shawn wins! After some junky yard research, a fwd has the release fork on the passenger side of the car where the 4wd has it in the drivers. Hence the cable is about 6" longer on the fwd. That's what I remember, hopefully it'll work for me.
  7. I'm working on my Xt-6 and needs a clutch cable that's longer. Right now I have the standard gl cable in it, but when I first made the car an mt, I had a much too long cable in it. I got all my parts out of the junk yard, and since it was more then ten years ago, I've forgotten what I pulled. I think it was an Xt turbo cable. Thoughts?
  8. Firstly, subarus are batch fired, but that's ok, mega squirt can so this. Next, I've had mega squirt on an ea82t. Worked well, fun to play with, waste of time. Thirdly, everyone is right. Ea82ts are not good. Total junk. That said I just personally built another one to get some good power. Carb block for higher compression. Legacy turbo. Spider intake and WRX intercooler. Maybe push 12 psi boost through it. Will it last? Through the winter hopefully.
  9. Got 235/75r15 on mine. It'll break 100 and typically got 24 mpg. I'm in Colorado where power is hard to come by. I could get it into 5th over 75, but even slight hills made me down shift. Not something I'd want to take out of state.
  10. Hi! Mines a 3rd gen, it's small, and it blows up every time I drive it...not I says I.
  11. With my recent experiance with the vss I'd start there. Other then that, when I did the auto to manual tranny swap on my xt it'd do the same stalling at stops. I "switched" the tranny into drive so the iac would expect the load. No clue if that helps.
  12. The ez is not much longer then the stock ea. You'll have to move the fans but I bet it will fit. The ez is just a hair shorter then the xt6 er27 as I got much more room in my car.
  13. All the PCM is looking for is a square wave. Frequency determines speed no matter if it's obd1 or 2. I just hooked up my 86 dash vss to an 03 legacy PCM and then using a scan tool watched the PCMs readout. It read just like the dash with no issues.
  14. Not sure how well this has been covered here, but I thought I'd share my experience. In my past swaps I never really hooked up the VSS to the PCM as I felt, from power values and drivability, that it really wasn't needed. My XT-6 was no exception, so when I installed the EZ30D, I skipped the VSS input to the PCM. The 6 was different though, and the car had trouble making power in the 3k to 4k RPM range. At 4k RPM, the car would take off, and in lower gears, spin the tires. I took it to the dyno to get this: As you can see, and I could feel, at about 3400 RPMs, the car actually LOST about 10 Ft/Lbs of torque, then dumps a ton of fuel and the power gets back to where it was at about 3900 RPMs. Recently, I did a dash swap and decided to run that wire over to the PCM. I should have done this originally is all I have to say, drivability is GREATLY improved and there is no more power loss. I took her to another dyno and WaLa! no more power drop. The power band really does still start in that area. So the next time I wire up a car, I will totally "waste" the extra few minutes and run that wire.
  15. I have the d on stock wiring in my xt6. I also had an xt turbo with ms but sold it to my BIL. He's putting it on to a dohc 2.5 and running into trouble with the ignition. Watch out for the fuel rails as well as the ez is a partial returnless system. Other then that it should be fairly straight forward.
  16. The stock "gauge" on a digi dash is not one... It's similar to the other turbo light found on analog dash cars as it uses the same sensor. When you make about 1-2 psi boost, it gradually lights the segments until it is fully lit. If boost goes away it stops doing so. The segment timer circuit is built into the cluster itself. The end. Sorry, it's just a really fancy light.
  17. I think your price on the adapter plate is very reasonable, as such I'll be buying one this spring from you for my swap. The flywheels issue though is a bit more... Maybe it's because I have so many spare flywheels laying around, but $225 for a redrilled wheel, or an extra $140 to have it done if you get the adapter plate seems a bit high... Maybe it's just me though, everyone's time is worth a different amount to them. On a different note, I cannot wait to see your new bumpers... I liked the last rear one you had on your site and hopefully the new ones will be just as cool.... and available by spring.
  18. I moved the battery in my XT-6 to the trunk when I did the EZ30. No real reason, but I did want it to effect the handling of the car, which is hard to tell if it did or not. Now I have more room up front for future intercooler piping..
  19. Looking good. Get the roof done then you can get a low side view shot and convince people it's totally done. Also, join the XT board:grin:
  20. Is it a buzzing? Maybe be the spark plug wires or a bad coil as well.
