  1. Hey guys! I completed my dual range swap but have some questions!! any help would be appreciated! So after my swap everything went okay,,, but eventually my clutch fork bent back,,, So my first question is: Are 4x4 clutch forks a little curved as apposed to 2wd clutch forks or did i bend it? Second what is the proper assembly for clutch forks?? i currently need to replace and have NO idea how to and my Hanes manual doesnt say how.... Car is a; 93 ,loyale, sedan, d/r swap, 5spd, 155k Thanks for any help, I can try to have pictures tomorrow.....
  2. Welcome.. Those are pretty typical "upgrades" for gl/wagons. If you want more power do a EJ swap. Other than that browse the site look at other peoples rigs and use your imagination
  3. No it was a 5 speed prior to the swap. Just made It 4x4!
  4. Got a little bit of snow the other day, Enough to have a little fun! Handles reallly well This was my first swap I have done 100% by myself, I'm pretty proud And my buddy in his WRX hatch herd me, and decided to join
  5. Okay thanks for the info but both the cars are EA82 doner car is a 89 wagon and mine is a 93 sedan. And Miles I'm trying to get the other side of the coil, where the key goes in, idiots busted it with a hammer :-\ I'm basically trying to get it to look original, either that or put in a push start but wiring is not my best area...
  6. A long time ago someone tried stealing my car, they busted the ignition and ever since then it hasn't been fixed but, Today I got an idea I am trying to get the ignition off of my parts car (gl wagon) but im having a lot of trouble. Just one question; do I have to take off the steering wheel and all the steering column to get the ignition off?? Im confused TIA
  7. If I were in the Washington area I would LOVE too....I meet all the specifications too :-\
  8. That sedan is SWEET! Did you make that bumper yourself??
  9. My buddy gave me this push start assembly today and I'm thinking about using it my loyale since I have to use a screw divier to start it... It says "for racing only" hahaha my subaru is no race car thats for sure The only down fall is it came with no instructions and have no idea how to wire a push start I know its just the five wires but on this assembly I dont know where they would go. Any help would be very appreciated Thanks guys
  10. Hey miles! I just finished my FWD-4wd swap and im wondering how did you weld the carrier mount bearing??? its the last thing I need to do before my car is mobile again!

    Thanks!!

  11. Sooo its been a while and my swap is just about done! It is now a fully working 4x4! With a new rack, New tires, completely rebuilt motor(timing belts, distributor, wires, plugs and finally got a new tail light to replace the broken one) It only needs a couple of things to be 100%! and those couple of things are I need to weld my carrier mount bearing and minor clutch work (It still engages and drives, clutch pedal just needs more "spring" and my trunk wont close because the lock is bent from when I got hit in the back and it will not latch. Other than those things its great. Here is my photobucket account where you can see all of SAMs photos! I'll let the pictures talk http://s249.beta.photobucket.com/user/Lopez13_bucket/library/
  12. I LOVE THE BRZ All around its a good car you can take traction control completely off which is sweet for getting sideways BUT Scion and Mazda have a model out EXACTLY like the BRZ the only difference in the logo...Kinda made me mad. I went cruising with my Subie group and we saw a Scion fr-s we chased it down thinking it was a BRZ....but nope
  13. This is the only thing that ive seen near me like this Just wait! What is the ideal price range for a EJ? My buddies are thinking a EJ25t......Im thinking 22t. Just need to know price I read up on the EJ swaps and saw a couple on YouTube..
  14. Hmmmmmm I just got off the phone with hime not to long ago and he said that it was his GF at the times car and her being a blonde she busted a coolant line and kept driving like that til it could not run :banghead: He I think me and some buddies are gonna take a trip 2 hours out and see if its worth it it not he said he'll still part it out... Not sure if I would want to part it out seeing how straight the body and interior is.. He said it was always garaged thats always a plus
  15. Right. Well my father is the main one then. He's got the fabrication skills and electrical, He worked at a shop doing electrical on cars for12+ years and swaps as well. Either way I'm surrounded with people more than happy to teach me and I'm more than happy to learn this isnt a rush project just something to have the guys work on in the after noon. After all its not a complete restoration. With all the help I'll be getting from you all here and in my city I feel like this should go smoothly. I'm just wanting advice I'd hate to see this gl get scrapped
  16. I've been around subaru's about 15 years my family is built around them! I've done 4x4 swaps and basic ea82 rebuilding and work on my buddies WRX's and STI's so I am familiar with the engines and wiring. However have not done a EJ swap (there is a first time for everything though, with the appropriate help) And yes as soon as I saw he had a top mount with no hood scoop I was so ashamed no wonder it blew
  17. So what Im thinking is: Car=$700 New EJ Swap=1200? (Just guessing) So basically sick car under 3k? Just gotta sell the current subies....If thats the route
  18. Thats what I sad! Im really debating it! Do you think it would be a good investment to fix the motor??? 'm leaning twords no but....Still got hope!
  19. Since my loyale is giving me more problems than I anticipated I hoped on CL and found this beuty, Its turbo'd but the engine is blown what do you guys think about this?? Thanks!!! http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/cto/3045768703.html
  20. Its been a little while I've been doing some trials and errors. I got everything in perfectly (Engine & transmission, Axles) Got it wired up and before I put the drive shaft and rear end in I wanted to fire it up to see how it went. Unfortunately It didn't start I was beyond pissed Its turning but not not catching so I went straight to work And here is what happened: First I checked my distributor and the "rotor " under the distributor cap was missing the screw and the rotor was cracked so I replaced that, Still nothing. Now I just checked my distributor cables for spark and on cyl. No. 1 it doesn't have spark while ignition is turning, but when It winds down it gives spark. Im not to sure what this means or what else could be wrong.....? Any help would be extremely Appreciated. Im just frustrated this motor with new everything is pulling the same BS
  21. Heres some pics of new (to the car) covers and all that good stuff sorry ive been out I had many obsticals in the last weeks. And the last pic is my ignition...somone tried stealing my car. and thats what i use to start it... andy imput?
  22. Hey Miles Demo here, doing the dual range 4x4 swap on my loyale sedan and I just got a quick question for you; I finally got the engine and tranny back in and im connecting ti back up and the adapters that connect from the the starter to the transmission are different, how can I get over this bump? Thanks!!

  23. Long time no talk.... Just a quick update: got to working on my engine I ended up doing new Timing belts, timing belt covers, oil pump, gaskets all around including valve covers, 4x4 flywheel and clutch and that about sums it up.. Attached the 4x4 transmission to the engine im thinking it would be easiest to put the engine and tranny in together as apposed to separate...ideas?? Can I just swap my front struts and keep my original knuckles?? I ask because when the knuckles came out of the 4x4 a little rough and they need new bearings I don't see why I wouldn't be able to, Just wanna be safe about it. Will post pics later tonight im just doing this update on my lunch
