  1. Hi All I bought this new old stock tank here in the UK last week thinking it might fit my Gen 1 pickup: The part number is 6421 30140. Trouble is the Gen 1 "Final Version" Parts Catalog I have doesn't list it - 30120 is for a Wagon DL, and 30160 fits Hardtop, Coupe & Sedan. BRAT appears to either 30230, 30350 or 30420. Any help gratefully received - many thanks! Owain
  2. Man, that's a real shame - but I really appreciate you taking the time to network your contacts, dfoyl. Guess I'll try New Zealand!
  3. Thanks dfoyl I've just had a US dealer (Heritage Subaru of Owings Mills) refund my money as they apparently can't source one in the US, so I'll keep my fingers crossed!
  4. Hi All Bumping this one as I've just had my third order (with different suppliers) for a replacement rear screen rubber cancelled... why do online parts suppliers (1) list parts as though they're in stock, (2) take your money (3) wait 2 weeks+ (4) then tell you it's not available after all and refund your money? Grrr!!! So, can anyone find me a new old stock 7650 61070, "WSTRIP (GLASS)". It is different to the Wagon item, which has a different part number. The bodyshop can't put the rear glass back in without it - help!!! Thank you :-)
  5. Hi guys After 3 years outside on a farm - after failing to gain its annual certificate of roadworthiness in 2009 - and losing its front wings to someone else's BRAT restoration project, then a further 3 1/2 years in my lock-up, then a false start at one "restorer" (I had to get the car back from the landlord after he disappeared without paying the rent), my GLF project is finally taking shape - photos taken at the bodyshop last weekend: Problem is, to get the rear glass out prior to the re-paint, the windscreen guy had to cut out the rear screen rubber, thereby destroying it :-( I don't have a replacement, and I've tried ordering twice from Europe, only to be emailed a week later "here's a refund - no longer stocked". Does anyone have one they can sell me or know where I might get one? Really needs to be new old stock in A1 condition; the part number is 7650 61070, description "WSTRIP (GLASS)". According to my Subaru dealer, they are no longer available from Japan. I'm in the UK but will of course pay shipping etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Owain
  6. Hi folks I need some advice! I've been building up a new front bumper (Gen 2 BRAT spec) for my GLF Hatch out of new old stock components (plastic bumper, overriders, internal steel beam etc.) Try as I might, I can't get the two long edges of internal steel beam to fit inside the upper & lower channels inside the plastic bumper - once I've got one side in, as soon as try the other, the first pops out! It's almost as if the two aren't designed to go together (but they are). Has anyone else ever experienced this - and is there a fix? Thanks Owain
  7. Yep, it has the (1970s?) Subaru "wing in a circle" moulded on the shoulder near the top port (just visible in the last of the 3 photos above)...
  8. Hi folks Amongst my stash of Subaru parts is a cardboard box full of these... can anyone tell me what it is & for which model(s)? It's just under a couple of inches in diameter (smaller than an EA81 fuel filter) and if you look down the larger of the two "pipes", there looks to be a spring inside. Thank you! Owain
  9. Subaru February 1980 parts catalog says part number 31230 4302 for all 1600s
  10. UK market 2WD "Shifter" - these can't have been sold for long as they debuted in the same year as the first UK Gen 2 MVs. Note the tailgate bears a "Shifter" decal but has an empty badge recess where the 4WD logo lives on the MV, plus all of the mudflaps are blank (these read "4WD" at the rear, "SUBARU" on the fronts on 4WD MVs): Love the US-inspired stripe kit! Never seen one in the flesh...
  11. I dont know whether this would yield the parts (barrel etc) you need but I have this RHD Gen 1 steering lock assembly I could sell you, brand new boxed complete with pair of original keys:
  12. Hi Folks A Christmas (or so) back, my better half Jo bought me a highly original present: some professional photography of my pickup This nearly ended up being a massive FAIL on my part as I didn't get off my backside and book the shoot for ages... and when I finally got around to it, the company had gone bust Thankfully, Lady Luck was smiling when I doorstepped the new owner... and he offered to take them at no further cost to me! Here's a selection of the results... I really like the whole "infinity studio" thing! Many evenings were spent polishing the paintwork, chrome and glass; treating the tyres & rubber trim, removing previously unnoticed overspray with Nitromors and T-Cut etc...
  13. Hi Folks After owning my MV (UK BRAT) for more than 6 years, it was only yesterday when replacing a rear shock that I realised the rear suspension helpers are missing (obviously rotted away). For those that don't know, this is what a helper looks like: ...and one is mounted each side, rubber "cone" facing down, from the upper plate next to the shock in the below photo: The unit screws into the mount; the thin hex-shape metal disc that's moulded into the top of the rubber is the only bit left. While the shock was off, I soaked the area in WD40 then tried some mole grips that were big enough, but it just won't shift, so I can't remove it to fit a new, complete, helper. Any hints or tips on how to get this darned thing off? PS just for fun, here's our boxer Daisy enjoying "her" BRAT :-) Many thanks Owain
  14. Hi folks Among the boxes of new old stock parts I've recently acquired here in the UK are a good quantity of gaskets (oil pan, cylinder head, valve rocker covers, exhaust). Upon validating the part numbers in the Subaru Parts Catalogs, there are different numbers for some EA71 & EA81 gaskets, e.g. despite looking almost identical, the oil pan gaskets are slightly different sizes; I can also tell that the cylinder head gaskets are slightly different (the EA81 has an extra couple of "lugs" on one side). Can anyone tell me if the valve rocker covers are the same spec for both engines, or do these differ as well?
  15. Should've grabbed that toupee and held it to ransom!
  16. They sound fantastic... Watched the new Die Hard movie last week, chock full of Mercedes products at every available opportunity... that said, product placement's not a new concept, watching this clip! :-)
  17. I viewed this car about 3 years ago. It's nice, but not £9900 nice - particularly when it was sold at auction, I believe to the current vendor, for around £2750. This is going to be for sale for a very, very long time - until the vendor gets bored, puts it up for auction, and it sells for... around £2750. Speculators...
  18. Hi OCD The Feb '80 Subaru Parts Catalog shows the following: RH DOOR: 6612 94530 fits HT, Coupe, 2D & MV (BRAT); 6612 94670 fits 4D & SW LH DOOR: 6612 94540 fits HT, Coupe, 2D & MV; 6612 94680 fits 4D & SW ...so I think you'll find the 4D / Wagon doors are different ("shorter" length, so as to fit an extra pair of doors within the wheelbase)
