Lose it on Woodmen out by Falcon? I lost a hammer out there but found it so you never know?! So you are actually shearing the cotter pin as well? I am not an expert but if you can you should make sure that the spring washer is OEM and not some flat washer from wherever. The conical washer needs that outer ring support to properly torque the hub. Were these flat washers?

Need gen 1 passenger door handle arm

Procured from Subaru3. -
Yup, KM2's for the win! Great tire all around. Good build story as well. Looks like a fun build.

Yup, like all of us "Coloradoans" we love it here! My '87 GL Sedan was like yours but maroon and she could barely do 40 up these roads out here, lol. Your car makes me miss mine more now. Thanks for sharing the pics and story with us.

Lol, I am trying. Time is getting scarce and we have a little one on the way in a few months. They way I see it I have til January to finish this and then my free time is over. But I can always work late at night. Not a really big update but I did want to show you all what can be done with some ingenuity. My steering wheel was atrocious, period. It was cracked all over and that odd flaky crap was coming off of it all. I found that you can scrape off a topcoat of this stuff with a razor blade. So I scraped down the spokes of the wheel and the back housing. It is smooth as can be now and looks soooo much better. I then sprung some supreme 80's nostalgia on The Squirrel, a Sport Grip wheel wrap. Before. After - I love it!

Sweet. $4.95 should cover the shipping then? Want me to PP you? Thanks. -
Also got most of my engine rebuild parts from Subaru. Amazing how much all the OEM parts are! And I also finished cleaning and mounting door cards on drivers side. Scraped all the old crumbling plastic off of steering wheel and added a steering wheel grip. But I have to take pics today for those.......

Test fit - perfect!!! All sanded smooth and premiered. Some flat enamel and done!

Been busy with work projects but have finally mounted the headrests I got off of a gen 2 brat. here they are as received in great condition. But as gen 2 rails are longer I had to modify them. Since I am really OCD I cannot make new mounts or drill them out. 1 and 1/2" is exactly what needed to be removed to fit. All cleaned up and ready to weld.

Much better with the Rex wheels... Bugeye/Peanut Rex wheels that is.

I did this as well with a 4mm (I believe) 2" (I believe) bolt. I got it at Home Depot. The length matters cause half of it is not threaded. Then you simply cut of the un-needed threads. Mine had grooves worn into it as well.

Gear oil leak from tranny....79 Brat
O.C.D. replied to biffanyus's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Could be the shifter linkage seal. I have been told that they leak like crazy. I believe it to be my issue as well. Mine literally drips out as she sits. Lubed my whole undercarriage though, lol. -
Glass table and some time, lol.
-
Let me know what you plan to do to lower it. I am in the same boat. I know you can re-clock the torsion bars in the rear but the front? I am not about cutting coils. But for such an old vehicle it may be the best option?

Hurry up, lol.

I was torn as well but then realized two things. 1 - less work in the end. My brat doesn't need a swap cause, well, it is never going to benefit from it. 2 - I can always pop out the extra lugs and move the others back to stock and use my stock wheels for some reason. Like if i ever get a hold of some Jackmans?!?! lol I dunno as I am biased but the modern size and tires worked out great I think. Gave the Squirrel just enough to make her different but not too much.

ea71 valve adjustment (noob question)
O.C.D. replied to dickdirty's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Hey wongleflute. Any info on how you are doing them an what they are to be set at? -
Nope not trailer wheels at all. I was against that idea so I bought real wheels so to speak. They are from Summit and are US Wheels.
