  3. Brats made for Japan had duel carbs.when we were buying low mile engines we always got the ones with duel carburetors...just for the coolness of it and they sure had more power...So.... i found two choices...one. hitachi ...carburetors made in China for $150 bucks or number two New old stock from japan for $600 bucks...And i know you get what you pay for but.....$300 compared to $1200 is something to consider.. so....any thoughts? anyone ever used a Chinese Hitachi ? Thanks and stay safe ,todd

  5. so.... I still have no power to the fuel pump .I did the hot wire but still no power to the pump..??is there a place in that line that could be broken ? or did i hook up the "hot wire"wrong ? my hot wire from the battery to the pump came apart yesterday as the Grandson was driving his new Subaru hatch back ....i need a permanent fix for it ....how hard is it to install that "relay"thing from amazon...? Thank you and everyone take care
  6. thank you ..i just like the coolness of a stock duel carb set up on my Thrasher...my dream would be to find two ,stock ,off the shelf Hitachi carbs.I know ,i'm a dreamer....but it could happen...i saw a few years ago on ebay but had no play money for them..two webers would take away the stockness and a lot of work just to get them to work right......so .....Thank you for your thoughts ..you guys stay safe a take care in these CRAZY DAYS
  7. hey gang, anyone put two webers on the subaru with duel manifold? i rebuilt one of them 18 years ago....it runs ok but lacks the zest it had all though ago ...thank you

Check the wiring from the rev sensor to the pump. I think it runs under the drivers seat.

  11. Thank you Guys.. my Grandson is stoked to get it..Taking out the welded diff tommorow. Let him learn the ropes before he gets in trouble up in the woods or having to replace wheel bearing ect from driving with the differential end welded up..Thanks again ,Todd so i put this on and Nada....the pump worked hotwired from the battery but not like this...is that hooked up right ? i will go check the fuses ect...thank you again for the help, todd
  12. cool ...I will check that out ,Hope your doing ok in these crazy times insert big thumbs up Hmmmmm ? its just over the years i have replaced that to get the pump going...and assumed it was bad.so can a guy just run a hot wire that the key can shut off to the pump lead on the revolution senser ? or just spend the cash and do it "the right way"?
  13. Hey gang.my grandson is buying my 1984 hatchback. the roll over switch ? (the small blue box just above the hood latch ) is bad. I have it hot wired off the battery now,but need a more permanent solution ... can a guy buy one of these somewhere? is that the right name/ i was always told it was a roll over switch..? so...... any thoughts ? thank you ,todd
  14. Well guys... i just got a belt that matched the one i took off...and that part is fine..But the no start ...After looking everything over 50 times hahah i realized I had broken a few teeth on the outside of the crank shaft sprocket while prying it off.....The ones that line up with the sensor ...duh ? Live n learn.... put in a good one and VaRoooom..easy peasy Japaneasy....Thanks Guys .
  15. Now don't be starting trouble old timer hahaha well now you have haha...,this engine had the newer style tenisoner on it and it needed a longer belt.it was impossible to put the stock one on. the one i got at the dealer matched right up .it was for a 2000 2.2 with the newer style tenisoner .now beside all that ...i still can't get it running.all the hash marks are straight up ,matched up with the belt marks and NADA.. its firing some but won't start ....... just tell me a quick fix hahaha
  16. So....water pump leaking. replaced that and all the front seals and a 2000 belt as someone put in the newer tensioner making the 96 belt too short .. . Lined everything up and ...nada won't start .first try the belt marks were not lined up perfect .the three hash marks were...so i changed that so all hash marks and the belt marks were all lined up .....still no go..close but we all know that doesn't count....... its.trying to fire up..now the battery went dead so its charging up ..any thoughts ?? Thank you ......so whats up with the belt marks..the old belt didn't have any ??
  17. hello, John...The picture number 6 isn't showing ..i know it been 9 years haha.. but i am looking at the same problem on my daughters 2.2 imprezza...any way to post it ? thank you ,Todd
  18. well he we are again ...insert big smile.....got bad rear wheel bearings on the back drivers side .....so how do your remove the stub ,the rear axle. from the housing ? its been a few years ..have it pressed out ? or use a bearing puller to push it through ? i no know...Merry Christmas guys
  19. Well guys ,i went with the stock item from Subaru ..still had to "cut to fit" ...about a 1/2" off each end ...but it fit perfect .no crimping at all..I fought that napa one for a while and never got it to fit without a compressed bend(hope that makes sense)... So she's on the road again ..Thanks and Merry Christmas to all and to all ...a good night ;{)
  20. Thank you !! I wondered if the dealer could even get them .Thank you Ram and GD....I patiently tried to make the napa one fit but NADA ...Oh the joys of working on older rigs ..Merry Christmas to all !!
  21. any one have trouble with the lower radiator hose on a 1999 2.2 impreza ?The one i removed had been "cut to fit" with a tight bend that looked "iffy".... got one from napa that said on the title "cut to fit" well i cut to fit till i realized this won't fit without that tight bend in it .. I'm hoping someone can say just one for some different make and it will fit perfect..i know ,i am the hopeless optimist but what the hey ...any thoughts ? thank you
  22. hello, Just got a 1999 imprezza outback..nice rig but..... When you first start it up the idle bounces up to 2,000? and down ..Only for a few seconds? any ideas, thanks <todd oh ..its a 2.2 automatic
  23. I have the same problem. on my hatchback ..I have been told to just by pass it but .... I too would rather fix it "The right way" haha I may try and chase down a used one
  24. Hey Bennie ,coil is good.i can run it with power right from the battery to the fuel pump. But that little box by the hood latch is defective.I have had it happen before and some how bypassed it ..that was 15 years ago and i forgot how i did it..Just hoping someone has a fool proof plan ;{) Thank you ,todd
