  1. Ive been having that same issue with my 99 legacy SUS. I changed the coil, ignitor, plugs and wires. Th issue for me end up being the oil pack. I mixed and matched between my old ones and new ones and thats what i foubd. Hope yours is as simple as mine was
  2. I would have him swap it out but being its my dd I can't really go without. I've checked all the electrical connections and they all seem to be in place and snug. All of the lights do work and none are up. Hah I usually don't but i do like to play a bit.
  3. lol I had the car running when checking it, this isnt my first rodeo with transmissions. I thought myself that it could have been underfilled but after rechecking multiple times ive found that its not the case.
  4. After having the engine rebuilt, the guy who done the work never hooked up the tranny cooler so the fluid leaked all out. i drove it maybe 10 miles before i noticed the tranny acting weird. i immediately fixed the line and refilled with correct tranny fluid but now it shifts hard into 2nd and when held to the wood, it wont shift at all, just slips at about 6,000 RPM. Screwed tranny?
  5. Just out of curiosity, if i remove the cat and the resonator before the O2 sensor will it cause it to throw a code? The exhaust has a bad leak at the cat so I was figuring I'd delete them altogether.
  6. That's kind of what I figured. Does anyone make a slightly larger injector for them though? I'm picking up a mildly built ej25d and figured that might be a good add on since it's already had some work done and I already planned on getting a tune.
  7. I read somewhere that you can pull the injectors from a certain year sti and swap them into a DOHC 2.5. Can anybody else confirm this? And if so what year range sti should I look for?
  8. I couldn't really find any information on here but has anyone had any luck with the Fel-Pro MLS headgaskets? I did some looking around and alot of people say that the MLS design is what i should be looking for, which from what i've read is what the OEM corrected gaskets are made of. Just hoping someone else has had a good experience with these. I Know i should be buying OEM but thats not exactly an option at the moment. :/
  9. made the decision today, the wagons gunna be stripped down and scrapped. kinda hurts me to say it cuz I love this car but its costing me too much money to keep it alive. its about time for something a bit more reliable
  10. Nice Loyale! Ive got a 92 and absolutely love it. Mine has over 230,000 miles and still climbing. Take care of that car and it'll last you forever. As others have said, this forum will inform you on literally anything you need to know. You can check out my thread sometime for some ideas. TheLoyale also has a really good thread. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=135660 my thread http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=121283 TheLoyales's thread
  11. I bought them through JC Whitney. about $37 a piece. ya, I just typed th in the info for the car and that'd one pf the first that popped up.
  12. Did some work the the Wonder Wagon last weekend. Put some new shocks on it, KYB GR-2. I LOVE them. I didnt realize my old ones were so bad, these boosted the rear nearly 2-2.5 inches. No rubbing anymore! My home made spring compressor, kinda sketchy but worked.
  13. Thanks again everyone. Im currently in the hunt for a 2.2. As for the 2.5, i might just rebuilt it and swap it into my loyale for my play toy. I found a 96 auto 2.2 and the guy said he also has a set of dual port heads off of a 95, will those swap over without issues?
  14. Ive been doing a lot more research on the 2.2 swap. I can definitely see how it'll be better in the long run. i found a 2.2 with 140,xxx out of a 95 auto legacy. Will i have to do anything with the computer for it to work right going from the 2.5 to the 2.2? before i start investing some major bucks i want to make sure I get all the correct info i need. GeneralDisorder I've been doing some looking around and cant really find a write up to do the swap, i know its not too awfully complicated of a swap but any pictures or a walk through would be nice. If you have or know where a writeup is or any good detailed advise on a swap that'd be extremely appreciated. I'm strongly leaning towards doing the swap
  15. Thanks everyone for the good advise. I did quite a bit of research before buying the car and knew the head gaskets were a common problem for these engines. I kind of figured that was the problem and for the price i was willing to accept it. I think I'm going to go the route of replacing the gaskets, thermostat, and the radiator cap. Id consider the 2.2 swap buy Subaru's aren't very common around my area. Whats the reason for not blowing heat? Mine wont blow even warm air. What is the reason for changing the rod bearings? Im probably going to do that as well while the engine is out as well as getting the heads refinished. Are they a real pain to change? I don't have much experience with boxer engines, this is only me 2nd subie and my loyale has been pretty low maintenance engine wise. The previous owner did take very good care of this car, he was also a subie fan and knew the problem. He was also LOADED so just bought a new car when the gaskets went. The reason the water pump was changed is because he had a pinhole in the original radiator and had a new one installed and put a new pump in it while it was apart. It wasn't from a faulty pump. I read on a different forum that a lot of people had HG issues after flushing the system which would have been done after the radiator swap. He had about 5k miles before the issue.
  16. I just picked up a 99 Legacy SUS and the guy before me had the water pump replaced and the guy who installed it never bled the system of air. He claims it was never overheated and a compression test was fine and everything checked out good. Well, I've added coolant and am having trouble getting all of the air out of the system. I messed with it for well over an hour and still not much luck. I read to fill the radiator then let the car run for a few minutes and if the coolant level is low again then refill and repeat until the coolant level stays full. Ive added nearly 2 gallons of coolant and it still keeps getting low. The oil is clean and i dont see any wet spots around the heads or underneath the car. The heater also wont blow hot even when the car is up to temp. Is there something I'm doing wrong or forgetting?
  17. Got the car today!!! A lot cleaner than i thought it would be. Even with the head gasket it runs damn good! Rides amazing! I STOLE it! $700!!! Ill definitely post pics soon. I don't know if I'm going to post a build thread on it though, i cant find much to really do to it. I cant find much anything lift kit wise either :/ I already have a set of wheels donated from mommas pt cruiser and some new snow tires originally bought for the Loyale. Any further info on these cars would be extremely helpful. Performance mods, lift kits, stuff like that.
  18. Ive been doing some research and see that a 1995 ej22 is a common swap for the 2.5. Why is that?
  19. Hey i heard you were the guy to talk to about getting some USMB stickers if you're still making them. Let me know.

    Thanks

    Brandon

  20. Selling the ole girl time to buy another subie!
  21. Thanks for all the advise everyone! I'm planning on picking the car up on Christmas Eve. hopefully a good $800 investment. Are there other things i should watch for with the 2.5? I cant find much info on them besides the head gasket issue. Ill be sure to post pics of it asap. Thanks a lot! For being a beater, i seem to get quite a bit of compliments Im currently in the process of making the air dam thing for my rack. got it all cut out and ready to install, just gotta find the best way to mount it. Havnt gotten any exhaust clips. its not straight piped anymore apparently the city cops around my place didnt find it as awesome as i did I got a thrush welded muffler put on last week. ill post a vid of that prolly after christmas.
  22. I'm cutting them at 3 3/ 4 and gunna go from there. on another note, I found a 99 outback sedan real cheap with a bad headgasket. is this a common problem? how much of a b*&%$ are they to change?
  23. finally got exhaust on the car today. went with a 2 1/2" inlet and outlet thrush welded and jept the 3" tailpipe, sounds pretty good, cant wait to break the muffler in a bit to see how it'll really sound. I'm in the process of making my 2" lift. fpr the rear, I know the tabs are bent at a 45° angle. but does anybody how long they are?
  24. Is there any way you can do a 4 inch? i can build all the drop brackets and whatnot that's needed with the 4 inch. all i really need is the front and rear spacers.
