  1. Thanks Jude, helpful information! I'm not using engine for aircraft, but I am using it for hovercraft, so weight is also a big issue for me. I left the flywheel on, but it is from auto tranny, not too heavy. I gutted the pressure plate, machined it down to min thickness and made an adapter for a flex coupling to the shaft. I made a bracket and kept the soob starter, even though it mounts from the rear. I want to strip all the emissions and extras off the engine for a cleaner look also. It may be easier than i think, it's just new stuff to me. Jeff
  2. Thanks miles, but keep in mind that the motor will no longer be in a car at all. I guess my only vacuum need would be the distributor?? Jeff
  3. Does anyone have any good advice or links on stripping down an EA-82? I want to remove everything that is not necessary for the engine to run properly. It will not be used in a car or on the highway. I plan to use a weber 32/36 or 38/38 carb. I'm not opposed to changing intake manifold if necessary. Thanks guys! Jeff
  4. If anyone has a weber 32/36 DGV for sale, I'd be interested. Jeff
  5. I telephoned the company above yesterday, they said they were out of stock of weber 32/36 until late May or June. They can get all the conversion parts though if you have your own carb.
  6. No, no turbo. And as I said, the EA-82 winn no longer be used in the soob. I'm using it in a hovercraft.
  7. Thanks for the info guys. Like a Weber 32/36, or something else. Also, are they simple mechanical carbs? without sensors, vacuum lines, etc? Jeff
  8. I am looking for a carb to put on an EA-82 that I pulled from a carburated '86 Subaru GL wagon. I have the stock carb, but am looking to simplify engine and improve performance to use in a hovercraft I am building. Thanks for any advice; I don't know a lot about these engines. Jeff
  9. Actually, the EA-81 is the preferred engine, but after a lot of searching, I felt fortunate to find a carburated EA-82. Also, I think the 82 is about 10 more hp stock than the 81. Other than that, I'm not sure what the differences are. Thanks, Jeff
  10. Thanks for the info. I'll check them out. Jeff
  11. Yeah, I'd like to see some pics, though I'm not too sure what I'm looking for. Just want to keep it simple, but guages are a must when you use an engine for an engine setup that was not original. No hurry on pics, I'll keep my eyes open. Thanks Jeff
  12. I'm also looking for for a guage set for the EA-82 if anyone has one for sale. Jeff
  13. What can you tell me about that carb? I'd be interested if someone has one to sell. Will that carb require an adapter? Jeff
  14. Hello all, I am new to the group. I don't currently own a Subaru, but am more interested in the Subaru engines. Recently I pulled a carburated EA-82 from an '86 GL wagon for a hovercraft I am building. For simplicity and performance, I want to replace the stock carburator with something else. Does anyone have any suggestions that will not cost a fortune? Thanks in advance, Jeff
