  1. We went with the 2005 Outback LTD. and driving home I noticed that the high beams work when pulling toward you, but when I push forward so they are on consistently, it clicks into place but the high beams don't come on. Could this (please!) be a simple relay problem with an easy fix?
  2. Looking for the pros on cons on these vehicles. I much prefer the upgrades on the Ltd., but wonder if there are any known problems with the Outback from that year.
  3. We have a 1995 legacy wagon. The other day the battery died. Replaced it. Today I noticed after turning the car off that something was running....sounds like a fan. Went inside and a few hours later went out and the "fan" was still running. I turned the car on for a few moments then turned it off but it was still running. The sound is coming from the engine compartment on the passenger side, by the radiator. Also, don't know if it's related, the ABS light has been coming on for about a week. It's not on everytime I start, about every other time.
  4. I am helping a friend with her 95 Legacy Wagon. The car has a problem going from 3rd to 4th (it's an auto trans) at slower speeds and at any speed when going downhill. Any suggestions?
  5. I noticed the two outer boots are torn on my cv's within the last 200 miles. There are no sounds at all to indicate a problem. How long do you think before I would start noticing signs of the axle deteriorating with normal road driving?
  6. the link legacy777 referred to was mine about a week ago... tried the easiest possible solution first- the different diameter tire situation. found tire pressure was different in all four. filled them to similiar psi- no studdering since. hopefully this is it! thanks to all for the advice. mahalo from maui.
  7. Many thanks for the idea to search forums for torque bind issues... and we will try the fwd fuse option to test out your very wise and valued advice... as soon as the surf is down a bit ! Mahalo from the pacific.
  8. yes, it is an automatic. I'll try the tranny fluid thing... thanks from hawaii for the wiki wiki (quick) response to our question!
  9. any ideas about why my 91 legacy awd would studder at slow speeds while turning? seems like something wants to stick or almost like an anti-lock brake system working but it doen't have this feature... any ideas? btw, this only happens at about 2 week intervals.
  10. Nice work! anybody have any suggestions for a rack that would hold a 12' two person sea kayak for my girlfriends legacy sedan ? Dont own the kayak yet as she doesnt think the soobi could haul it...I say otherwise. I think this may be a ploy to upgrade to a s/w or worse - some kind of pick-up.
  11. not really a flicker... more of either on or off when the car is started. maybe 1 in 3 starts it will come on. have not noticed it change (from on to off, or off to on) when the car is out and about.
  12. Mahalo from maui for the advice! sacrificed the $7.89 for a cap, reluctant to drive to the top again without a few days of test driving at sea level first... and then there is the randomness of the check engine warning light...
  13. Having similar situation with my newly purchased 91 legacy...you're not alone on the need for fix-it help.
  14. Thank You. I replaced the radiator cap yesterday and didn't know about the bleeding thing. I will get on that today.
  15. Thank You. Seemed like not all the fluid but way too much to be just stabilizing. I replaced the cap yesterday so we will see... Also, this first occurrence was during a drive from sea level to the near top of 10,000' haleakala volcano on maui (full moon too) wondering if elevation/air press change may have contributed to this situation?
