  1. Does anybody know the differences in pressure plates for the 4wd and the Fwd. The only one I know about is the 225mm to 200mm diameter. I have the 200mm I need but it seemed a little lighter then the old plate....thickness?
  2. Everything is there. The Through Out Bearing was even a little thicker then the old one. There is a little spring in the clutch but there was resistance to an extent even when engine was out. I guess I'll try it again today. Thanks
  3. Does anyone know of any variations in clutch parts during the 1991 Production year for Loyale's? I just put a new clutch kit in my car and it doesn't work. It seemed to be a bit lighter duty but I wasn't worried becuase it was the only listing they had. Now it's all back together and don't work. The pedal goes right to the floor with the cable adjusted right up. I guess tomorrow I'll have to pull it again but I'm sure I won't find the parts on a long weekend. What a pisser
  4. Has anyone had any problems with FENCO clutch kits? When I've used Fenco water pumps I've had problems more often then not, but FENCO is the only Clutch kit I can easily get from my Parts store. I know lots of stuff is available online but I prefer to shop local. Also any suggestions about seals, timing belts, oil pumps....it's going to be alot of fun. Thanks, Later
  5. I want... Where did you get those? How much?
  6. If the Loyale is 4wd you will see a electronic push button in the centre of the shifter knob. I think after 89 only turbo models were 4wd. Get it anyway, you can always make what you want.
  7. I've searched lots of other stuff and it works great. I didn't even think to use the search engine for this....it seemed too obscure....I won't make that mistake again. Thanks for the feedback. I'm not sure what I will do with it but cool.
  8. This should get some feedback. I want to know if Subaru ever made a desiel engine. I want to put one in my Loyale and convert it to run on discarded fryer-oil(or canola, but fryer-oil is freer). I've done some reasearch and I think the spare tire area would be a great place to put the auxilary tank with easy access to coolant lines to preheat the fat. There are quite a few conversion kits on the market but what fun is that. A little duck tape and we're ready to go. The biggest hiccup is you have to start with a desiel. I've never heard of Subaru desiel in North America but the rest of the world is far more enviromentally minded so maybe I should look in Oz or Europe. If anyone has any info...or opinions.....fire away. Later
  9. The pilot and throw-out bearings are different but the throw-out and release bearings are the samething. As for converting to hydrualic...Why? The hydrualic clutch on my BroncoII(I know issues to begin with) was nothing but a pain in the a**. Non-adjustable, the throw is different each time you turn the flywheel, master and slave cylinders tend to wear and leak. You have to flush the system more often then the brakes if you do any fjording. I can understand for a large truck were the clutch pressure is hard on the leg but I'm much happier with the cable clutch on my Sube.
  10. Any vehicle with a transversly mounted engine relies only on an electric fan. Why should you need a manual fan on the water pump. It just saps extra power. I know guys with jeeps who take off the manual fan and use only electric with a switch so you can turn it off to forde deep water with out splashing it up into the air filter
  11. My trany vibrates too. Mostly when I really get on it in 2nd and 3rd at 4500 to 5000. Asked the previous owners and they said it has always done that from new and they just never took it that high. I just assumed Subarus of this era were a little rough around the edges. As for the valves...did the check valve fix a couple weeks ago and lovin it. Nice and quite. I wouldn't even bother with the additive...waste of money for me. My 91Loyale was originally bought in Victoria.....rad.
  12. If all other componets of the cooling system are in good shape running without a thermostat will not cause overheating. Just putting in a cooler thermostat will help you run in the range you want. As for moding the condensor to run oil or coolant I vote for oil. And move the condensor so it doesn't inhibit airflow to the rad. My question would adding a second fan help keep temps down on the highway or is the air moving through as fast as it can anyway. Maybe I want a oil cooler too except I'm worried about the winter. My two bits... Robb
  13. Yes SPFI. Yes Hotwire type. I was hoping someone had done this already but hey at least now I know where to start. Votages eh! This is going to be more invovled then I thought/hoped. It may be a while before I can get on this but I'll let you know if I accomplish anything worthwhile. Thanks.
  14. I just looked at the intake on my 91 Loyale wagon. What a joke. Are there any fixes for the ridiculasly(spelling not a strong point) small MAF. I cut a nice hole in my filter box so I get a bit of ram effect from behind the headlight, but I don't see how it will help b/c the MAF is the most restrictive point from what I can figure.
