  1. I think there's a way to adjust the height on my 91 loyale. Has anyone done this? Thanks
  2. My wagon seems to handle okay -- it corners pretty well. The ride is rather rough. Using the push-down-on-the-bumper test, I see the front right and rear left bounce more. Others have pointed this out after testing. Also, the rear left is lower than the rear right. Is this necessarily strut-related? I washed my car today because I can't afford a new old car, and I want a change. I also purchased from advance a Monroe front strut and a rear strut. But after searching here on USMB (great site, btw) I learned: 1. My suspension might not be THAT bad. 2. I shouldn't change just one strut, at least in the front. 3. I may need to pay for an alignment if I change struts on the front. 4. Monroe's not the best brand. I'm thinking about taking the struts back and just fixing the height problem in the rear left. Or just replacing the rear left if it's strut-related. Anyway, this is where I am...Any advice? Much thanks,
  3. A year and a half ago I bought my 91 4WD Loyale 5 Speed. It had fairly low mileage - 228,000 - (twohundredtwentyeightthousand) and a fresh red paint job, new clutch and oil pump, immaculate interior. I paid $1200. None of the other Loyales around at the time seemed to sell. I'm in Roanoke, VA. Hope that helps!
  4. I order a drop-in K&N filter today and hope to put it in this weekend. I imagine it's pretty straightforward. Grindstaff
  5. Hello, I am newish...Could you explain the "fender trick" refered to? Thanks, Grindstaff 91 Loyale 4wd wagon 247,000
  6. With the help of the local friendly gas station who has worked on the subaru before, I was able to locate the 2 solenoids underneath the car and the confirmed the vacuum solenoids location. Wires all looked good to him. So I suppose the next step is to locate some solenoids and start swapping them out. The fuse blowing is no longer immediate, but after 30 seconds or so. Still no indicator light on the dash.
  7. Thanks for the posts. Inspection is today, and I haven't solved the 4wd engage problem yet. Please be patient with me as I'm learning what things such as control solenoid valves are, etc. One other detail is that before the fuse problem I remember the engage light on the dash working intermittantly a couple times. If anyone is willing to step me through as to location and how/what to check that would be great. I have a Haynes manual...not enlightening me yet. I do I check the control solenoid valves? Thanks, Grindstaff
  8. Yes, it's a five speed. I'll start looking for suspicious wires... Thanks, Grindstaff
  9. It worked last year, but now when I press the button in the shifter instead of engaging the 4wd I blow a fuse. Any ideas of what to check first? Thnks, grindstaff
  10. This is a basic question. When not in 4wd mode, am I driving from the front or rear? grindstaff
