  1. Thanks for the input. That throws out using the 2.2 phase II. Not finding oil in the coolant, or coolant in the oil. I suspect right now the coolant is seeping to the outside on the driver side HG. Thinking of doing dye test before I pull the engine just to confirm. Could look at rebuilding the 97 long block to swap in.. if required. The HG on that 97 motor could still be good, just have to figure out if I can test it and see if the valves are ok, perhaps it could be a straight drop in if the valves are ok. I know the motor was running when it crashed dukes of hazard style. I just remembered, I think I have a 97 Legacy GT engine with rod knock in storage, could look into those heads too(But it was a manual 97 GT wagon).
  2. I have a 99Legacy GT automatic sedan with leaking head gaskets. But with so many variations in this year I am really not certain if I can swap some of the engines I have in. For spares/swap/parts cars ins I have: Full car: 99 Legacy Brighton with a Phase II engine and manual transmission Full car: 91 Legacy Turbo sedan, was an automatic but currently has a 04 wrx manual transmission. 97? EJ25 that was pulled from a wreck, cam sprocket on driver side was crunched, unknown if valves played high five with piston. 93 Turbo engine with wiring harness, ECU,cross member and parts, from an automatic. Some other EJ22 phase one motors, that have been stored and are of questionable quality. Trying to figure out what my best solution is here to keep my driver going until I get around to actually building up one of the EJ22T blocks for a proper turbo swap. It seems the 99 EJ22 from a manual won't work as it does not have EGR? I don't really have the time to complete the EJ turbo swap (I think). Engine swap would be ok, wiring would take me some time. Seems like a waste to spend the money on new EJ25 head gaskets when the plan is to do the turbo swap. Possible to swap the 5 speed along with the EJ22 Phase II, but at this point why not spend the time on the turbo swap, and the 04 wrx 5 speed instead. Car does not overheat, but it eats coolant, could keep driving it while topping it off once a week while another engine is preped Just juggling options here, as time to do anything is quite tight as I moved recently and we have lots of renovation/house work to do among other things. If the 99 2.2 Phase II can be swapped in on a Saturday it would be great as I know it is a good motor. - Eric
  3. Thanks, I also just found his contact info and he responded to me. Your price is correct and he is still making them
  4. Yup, I never left them hooked up. But re-checked the horn afterwards it works. Grabbed a multi meter and they both connect to ground. Was this a feature in 2002 adding the extra ground wires for testing? The horn never honked on locking the door, but talking to the other, she said it always did honk if a door was left open. Horn always worked normally with the steering wheel. Wonder what the optional plugs are though. Also a photo of the two ground wires I was referring to
  5. The plugs I would agree are normal. But being a person that digs into things. I really want to find out what their purpose is and why they are there. And the reason for the loop. The black wire's I can get a picture of later tonight. But I can 100% confirm they are for the horn (Possibly the 4 way flashers as well) for the keyless entry. The horn has never worked on the keyless entry until I connected the 2 black wires together. They simply have a male pin on each end and were taped together at some point, just by looking at it you could tell they were connected and had been pulled apart. So connected the horn works with the keyless entry, to beep at you if the doors are not closed when locking etc... So they must have come from somewhere and were connected to each other properly at some point. I plan on adding a remote start etc.. to this car and identifying all the plugs will only help later on when doing this. And solve that curiosity thing.
  6. There are a few plugs under the dash I am trying to identify on a 2002 Outback. First set of connectors fell down as they had been tied up but came loose. Both are 6 pin. One is connected to nothing. The other has a plug on it with a wire that simply routes back around to the plug. I have included a photo of them. They came down from the left side of the drivers foot compartment. The black connector only uses 4 of the pins The white has 3 wires on the male side, and only the 1 wire that connects back to the plug on the female side. I have attached a photo of the plugs. On the other side of the drivers foot well right next to the plug for the fan control (B80/i20) in the service manual. There are two black wires that were pulled out of their plugs, they had electrical tape on them but were not connected. I suspected they were for the door lock horn notify alarm as it never worked on this car. I connected them and now the horn works when locking the car. Now the question is... where did these wires originally plug into? They still have the original pins so I may be able to put them back to their correct location. And I cannot seem to find the horn in the wiring diagram for the 2002 outback, Page WI-210 (23. Keyless Entry System)
