Anybody know what this is
Subieguy replied to Subieguy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well the Brat made the 200 mile trip today but now the tranny is done. I can barely put it in any gear. You really have to muscle it to get it into any gear now. Time for a new one:( -
Anybody know what this is
Subieguy replied to Subieguy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Now I just have to hope it will make the 200 mile round trip to go pick up my EJ-25 motor for my 98 Forester on Thursday. -
Anybody know what this is
Subieguy replied to Subieguy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
As soon as I can find a donor car with a D/R 4 speed or a D/R 5 speed I will change it. For now I just have to deal with it. -
Ok I was draining the oil out of my tranny on my 84 Brat. Along with a sizeable mass of metal shavings stuck to the drainplug this was stuck to it: Any thoughts on what it might be? Tranny has been getting really noisy for a while. Wondering how long it will last. Richard

80' BRAT Clutch/Brake Support
Subieguy replied to asis's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
This is quite common on the old Gen 1's. I ended up taking the one out of my 78 Brat and doing a little mig welding and some tig welding on it. Ended up adding a 1/2 piece of steel in the same area as yours as a gusset to add more strength and really stiffen it up. Worked out great too. You can weld it in the car but it really was not that big of a deal to get out. Made it easier and I was able to really strengthen it up all over the whole pedal box assembly with it out. Richard -
Ok, I'm looking for a EA-81 hydro engine for my 84 Brat. Don't want to have to worry about adjusting the valves anymore. My question is what years and model Subarus did they come in. Obviuosly they did not come in the Brat and what year did they first start offering them? Richard

5sp single range in first gen BRAT?
Subieguy replied to Twitch de la Brat's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Like Bill said.... Nope. They never came with a 5 speed of any kind. -
Ok My 98 Forester has a blown engine. It is the DOHC EJ-25. What I need to know is what other year Subarus does this engine come in. Also up to what year EJ-25 is a direct fit drop in. I have got my eye on this wrecked 01 Forester with 92,500 miles on it. The car still runs and drives but is damaged pretty bad. My question is will this engine work in the 98? Just am not familiar enough with these newer Subies to know. Any help on this one would be appreciated. Thanks, Richard

guage cluster switch?
Subieguy replied to chefgeoff's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
If you want to install the tach cluster you just need to switch it. You will just need to run a wire to the cluster and plug it in for the tach. Real simple. -
I wonder what year...

Put me first in line. Looking for parts for my 78 Brat and 76 wagon. -
Rear shocks Question
Subieguy replied to kiwi subbie's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I know this is old but you would not happen to have a part number for this shock? Richard -
I wonder what year...
Subieguy replied to chefgeoff's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
The year would be between late 77-79 wagon. Get it. The front winch bumper alone would be worth it. Part it out and make sone money on it. To far to drive or I would come grab it. -
My 73' Coupe Restoration
Subieguy replied to Datsunrides's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Man that's some determination to get a parts car. I thought myself driving 4 hours to get a parts car was fanatic but you are determined. Cool! Good luck with it. -
Worked on it today and ended up tearing the dash out and the whole heter box. Never thought I would find another good heater control valve and heater core. They both appear to be in good shape. They were still hooked up to the car when it last ran and there is no sign of any coolant leaks on the floor. The only real problem I have for the interior is it is getting wet. The passenger side floor was soaked. Time for a new windshield gasket. Too bad I only have 1 new one left. I need that one for my 76 wagon.

Subieguy replied to 84GLPROJECT's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Not a manifold. Just a Y pipe and again they are different. -
Lookie what we found..
Subieguy replied to RenaissanceMan's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
If I had room Mike I would drag it home and sit on it until I could either start on it or find it a good home. Problem is that I already have my hands full with the 3 Sub's I have. Kind of why I passed the info about the car on to you. How about showing us those other pictures you took. -
Yeah there are holes cut in it and speakers jammed in them. Ruined the headliner. Now I have to find a new one.

Looks rough Mike but if anybody could fix it that would be you. Go for it. Not like they come along every day! Glad I passed the info onto you. Hope it works out for you. If you need help moving it let me know. Rich
