  1. Cool Stuff!! you guys Rock. I think it might be wiring so I'm going to check it out next weekend. It's most likely my fault. I took the engine out and replaced the head gaskets and when I put it back in I held up the trans with my jack, from the pan. Not a smart thing to do, but wasn't thinking at the time. Let you know how it pans out.
  2. I'm getting a check engine that's giving me a P07430 - Lock-up Duty Solenoid. Car: '98 Subaru Outback Wagon 2.5l Auto Can someone help with the following: 1.) Where is this solenoid located? 2.) Is there any way to troubleshoot it? 3.) Can it simply be replaced, or is the problem deeper? Aside note, when I start up in the morning I get a flashing "AT Oil Temp". It does go away after a 10-20 seconds and doesn't return?? Any connection?
  3. Lets add to the confusion. I have a '98 OBW that just blew a head gasket.. and it didn't shake at idle. I just dropped a '99 yard engine with ~60k miles in it. Engine runs good but shakes the car to He.. when I'm at a stop. I actually think there is a strong chance it is the torque converter. When I pulled the old engine I made a big mistake, I yanked it with the torque converter still bolted on. The converter came out.. and so did the shaft that goes into it. Everthing pushed back in OK on the re-install, but now I have the shakes! Otherwise all I have left to try is: o2 sensors, injectors, and possibly a valve adjustment... Thoughts anyone?
  4. I have a similar vibration. Is it only at idle? Does it get worse if the lights and/or A/C are on? I know mine isn't the timing belt.. checked and double checked. Wires and plugs replaced and still a vibration. It's smooth once you get going.. but at a stop it feels like it's missing a cylinder.. yours? Here are my guesses: Cat or O2 sensors possible adjustment of IAC or TPS (search the board) vacuum leak (try some carb cleaner around the intake) I'm even thinking mine is the torque converter??? dirty injectors I'm still working on mine, so if I figure it out I'll let you know.
  5. After my '98 OBW blew the head gasket (for the second time) I decided to replace the motor. So, I just sunk about $1700 into a used yard motor with about 60k. The engine had everything on it except the A/C and alternator (used mine on the car). Also looks like the motor may be from a newer car, cuz the timing tensioner looks very different from mine. Anyway, motor in and started but at idle it's VERY rough. It also feels a little like a miss? Once you get going it feels better, but I still sense that miss? Other details: no smoke, no overheating, swapped coil packs from original motor - no change, swapped wires from original motor (except #4 which I broke) - no change checked for vac leaks but didn't find any... yet, sprayed some carb cleaner around intake, no idle changes, no engine lights, gets a little worse with lights and/or A/C on, My thoughts: Engine did have a damaged Timing cover, I used my orig.. but didn't check to see if the gears were lined up ( i know pretty stupid after having it all off), IAC TPS Injectors (didn't seem so from reading other posts) Calling all Subaru Gurus, please help.
