  1. Greetings, I live in Prescott. there are a few brats running around town. I still have my '78 but it is parked. My daily driver is an '87 brat. I am thinking about parking it for a while and redoing the front end, dics on the back, shocks... I have two campers for it. Like to sell them. One is REAL nice and matches my '87 in color. (bergundy sp?) I am a carpenter and don't see me ever needing a shell. Like to find a good dual range tranny, to mate to the '78. I already have the fat case bellhousing. Plan to keep the ea-71 in it as it is still strong, and is a jap inport with low miles. That brat is lifted, has 14's, a weber, a low roll bar, custom front bumper, and steering wheel was modified to a smaller size. Later, Dave.
  2. Nice! Especially the perfect drivers seat, tail gate trim. Beauty.
  3. thanks for the replys, these are a *************** to figure out. especially now that it is running right. dp
  4. I hadn't noticed the trailer is dual axle, and small wheels. Pretty quirky
  5. I am a remodel carpenter, have used a brat for the last 15 years as my daily driver. I have an f-250 as back up. Don't let these guys talk you out of the brat. I tie all kinds of ladders, lumber across the back all the time. I have a gang box that sits length wise in the bed. When I want to take all the dogs to the woods I have a rolling cart that matches the tailgate height, and slide the box right out onto it and roll it into the garage. They don't like alot of weight but I have had around 800 lbs of concrete bags in it. I admit I was puckering a bit! They have awesome traction even without chains and just street tires. I had my '78 in 2 ft. of snow, that one has a 3" lift and 14 inch tires. I also have hauled two irish wolfhounds and a great dane. Good thing they like each other. It will fit 4x8 sheets leaned over the tailgate. I can go to the woods an fill the bed level in about 2 hrs with fire wood. If you get one, I have a really nice camper shell for one (level with the cab)for sale. It sits in my yard, don't think I'll ever use it. Later, Dave in Prescott.
  6. Hi, always ran great. Lately it runs like crap. No power, sounds like it is missing. Then will go back to running great. I checked the choke, opening just fine. Replaced wires, plugs, rotor, cap. Sometimes I smell raw gas. Oxygen sensor, clogged cat, coil going bad... ? I know, grasping at straws. '87 ea-81 four speed. Thanks, Dave in Prescott, Az.
  7. If he doesn't go for it let me know. Thanks, DP
  8. I'm running 185/80's on my '87 brat. They fill the well space nicely and are tall enough for romping.dp
  9. Thanks, that would be nice. Im starting to get a small pile of stuff to improve the '87 brat. I bought that carb today for 50 bucks. came with fuel regulator, and a couple of kn filters. I also have a set of rear dics, that I may have bought from you a long while ago. If I had the money I'd get in on one of the lift deals goiing on now. My email addy is davepurce@cableone.net. thanks, dp
  10. Based on that I think I will buy it. It is going for 50 bucks. I have one on my '78 brat, and my mechanic made a simple cable holder by bending a large flat washer over (crimping ) the cable housing. It has held for many many miles. If anyone has the adaptor plate I am interested. Thanks, dp.
  11. can you just turn the carb 180 degrees?
  12. I have a chance to pick up a 32/36 dfav, will that hook up to my ea 81 brat ok? I know I'll need a mounting plate if anyone has one to offer. Thanks, Dave in Prescott, Az.
  13. Howdy, come on down. I have a very nice low topper, burgendy color, tinted windows, thule rack (factory), inside finished. I use my '87 brat for work, so never put the topper on. I have never seen a topper this nice for a brat. Dave ps I am easy on pricing, or trade.
  14. that would be key, I would hate not to be able to tilt the seats, to access the space behind the seats, thanks. dp
  15. thanks for the reply, have a set to buy, a little dirty, but the foam looks good. I am sitting on springs right now. My massage therapists looks horrified at me! The price is right, just have to get my friend to help with the welding if it is necessary.
  16. any one know if a seat from a 86 gl wagon will fit in my 87 brat?
  17. '87 brat, 177,777 ,4 sp, Usually around 24-25 mpg. Anyone needing a maroon low capper? Nice. Cheap (shameless plug)
  18. Just did the cap and rotor. Made quite a bit of improvement. Still missing a bit,but much better. Now I'm fired up to follow through, will be checking the timing. Later, dp
  19. thanks for the replys.. I recently replaced the wires, air cleaner, fuel filter was a few months ago. I haven't done cap and rotor. Guess I'll go with the cheaper replacement stuff first.
  20. Has always run great. Now runs rough. Starts and idles fine, just no get up and go. I think clogged catalytic convertor, or shot oxygen sensor. Any ideas? '87 brat. thanks, dave
  21. I once chained up my gen one brat, it didn't allow for the wheels to slip, and bound it up. It was hard to get it out of 4 wheel drive after that. Wondered if anyone else has had an experience like that? Dave.
  22. I start every day with a shot of pb, it loosens the joints and puts a bounce in my step.
