Viscousious center diff in place of a clutch style
Huck369 replied to Huck369's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
The rear housing was busted on the parts tranny, so that's not an option currently, but thanks for the info! -
I'm working on one of my Daughters 2010 Impreza 2.5, 5-Speed Wagon the clutch style center diff is bad, I have a 98 Impreza Parts 5-Speed, which uses the gear type center diff, and I was wondering if anyone has replaced the newer "clutch Style, with an older "Gear Style" center diff...... It'd be nice to be able to use the parts I have laying around instead of buying a new Clutch Style center diff ($465).... So if anyone has done this, I'd like to hear about it.... Thanks! Huck

There are no emissions check here, so if it will run fine without the erg system, I could just run without it....

Thanks, I can work with that.....

Surely someone has some info on this, I searched "EGR" and came up with nothing....

I've got a EJ25 Non EGR motor, that I'm trying to replace a EJ25 that had an EGR system, with there be issues, and if so is there a "Work around" (Motor out of a 03 OBS going into a 04 Forester XS) TIA

I rerouted the wire loom going to the throttle body & erg stuff a couple nights ago, as it was twisted and binding pretty badly, straightened it out and plugged it all back in, now it's running smoother than it had since we've had it, and the cruise control is working again. Definitely worth trying, as it cost nothing but soon of my time.

Our 2008 Outback has this same issue, no cruise control, flashing cruise light, but no CEL and no codes...drove 10 hour trip yesterday without cruise......Very annoying, guessing it has something to do with the electronic throttle.....I really miss the old throttle cAbles, as they simply worked.... So any info on this problem would be appreciated....

I bought it used for a spare car for my daughter while her car was down with a bad transmission....it is really nice for a 93, original paint, and clean inside, has 168k on it, and seems to have been well maintained. I actually have it up for sale, as it isn't needed anymore..... http://lexington.craigslist.org/cto/5901070381.html

If you wanna come and get one, it's yours. It's been out of the car for a few years, but been in a shed.

Thanks for the offer Gary, but no use shipping me something that I already have here, If I go this route it'll all be coming out anyway.

Not looking for better MPG, just the cheapest replacement motor (I have 3 EJ18's laying around) I figure the 4.44 gearing in the Forester will make it "OK" for hauling it around, but yes, I know it will be slower than the 2.5....but faster than a blown 2.5
