  1. Big THANKS for some great advise... The FWD light went out after pulling the FWD fuse under the hood. It seems to drive just fine. Still cant find the diagnostic connector. It's got to be there... I think :-\
  2. 1. Its a foreign object in close proximity to your fan. At high speeds, the fan sounds fine... slow it down and it will sound like cards on your bicycle spokes... (remember when you where a kid?... the card thing !?) Could be a leaf or some other debris. 2. More Expensive... Sometimes fan motors wear out and the bearings can make a clicking type noise, or the (wire) windings break away and strike the motor housing... Either way, you need to pull the motor. You will find the problem. Once it is out, spin it by hand. If you hear the clicking noise, get your wallet out...
  3. My $0.02... Many so called "alignment" specialists only check toe. And some go as far as checking caster.... not all mechanics will check or correct the camber even if it is out of limits... My SVX was just aligned by a reputable shop due to the same findings you have with your tires. My tires looked like I had been driving in a circle for 60K miles. Like new on the outboard area and down to the minimums on the inboard. (like yours). Toe and caster was dead on, but the camber was a bit off on both front corners. I use a custom set-up for my 96 Impala... 26K miles and no signs of ware. Maybe the factory settings are not optimal for tire wear..? Bottom line, use a reputable alignment shop and rotate / balance at 5k mile intervals.
  4. Any and All help would be appreciated. I just bought a 92 SVX with 109k on it. .... Paid way too much... thanks for asking !! It has a few problems I've listed below... again, thanks for your patience: 1. I have read several posts and one Chilt** manual about that little (green?, yellow?...etc.) connector to allow the ECM to flash the engine fault codes. I can't find it. I found a black and yellow connector under the driver's side, kick panel. (vertical panel left and below the hood release). If these are the connectors, what do I connect them to. My wife gave me some ideas as to where to stick em' (she thinks I'm playing with this car too much). Bottom line... I know there is a way to get the fault codes without a $350 reader, or paying $75 an hour to a shop. Can someone point me in the right direction, take me by the hand and peel my eyelids back? 2. An indicator on the instrument cluster "FWD" is illuminated. What the...? I also notice that the front wheels will slip on wet pavement. Do you think my transfer case is getting lazy? My guess is that my 4WD is approximately 2.5WD as it is.:-\ 3. Any ideas as to where to find one of those In-Line Transmission filters? I thought these where after market ad-ons. Mine has the Subaru Logo on it... I think it's original. Probably time to change it. Well, that's it for now. Any pictures of those connectors would be nice, but mainly want to know where to look.
