  1. Yeah I am thinking about going to digital, do you have to just rewire the dash like crazy, or do you also have to change sensors too. I am kind of a old technology freak and would love to have that sweet digital dash in my XT
  2. I got my 87 XT for 200 bucks, put a battery and gas in it and it was running
  3. See that is just the thing, my analog dash as a ton of problems, so i figure it will be just as much work getting the analog to work as to convert to digital, I have do dash conversion on jetta before, I know it is alot of work, I do not mind it really at all.
  4. I love that saying, I have an old super beetle and Love it because i can floor it, accelerate hard, and yet i have never bet anyone in acceleration, and that fast the car has ever gone for me is 61, so to get a speeding ticket it is impossible. I think the one bumper stick that sums up a bug is the following: 0 - 55 in 11 minutes
  5. I love my XT . . . . but I most defiantely would take that car anyday, I wish I had lots of money
  6. I am new to subarus, but not with cars in general, if you do not have water on the inside, then your heater core should be good, where is the smoke comeing from?? If it is from the exhaust it most likely is your head gasket, but if it from under the hood, I would say its leaking onto the engine and then burning up but then why does it not do it when the engine gets even hotter . The only thing i can think of to explain that is that its a very slow leak. Well thats my two cents worth.
  7. First I want to thank you for the advice and for reading this thread. I really appreciate it. OK This weekend I have replaced the following on my new Subaru XT , its not new, well to be honest the paint job sucks and the interior needs an overhauling, and the engine has 212,8XX miles on it :-\ . Anyway I replace the following: 1. Valve Cover Gaskets and grommets 2. Front Disk Brakes 3. Serpintine Belt 4. Spark Plugs and Wires (rotor and distributor cap will be here tomorrow) 5. Changed the oil and put 20w-50 in it with a bottle of STP And here are the problems I am still having and need advice on: 1. The Hill Holder Clutch . . . I hate the thing , I know its a neat feature, but man I hate it, it won't disengage, so either please tell me how to how to adjust it, or tell me how to disconnect it. 2. I replaced the valve cover gaskets hoping it would stop the engine from smoking. See i know oil somehow gets onto the exhaust pipes and then smokes like crazy after you turn the car off. I think it is the oil pan gasket now looking at it more closely, so my question, how difficult is that to change the oil pan gasket. 3. I bought new spark plugs, and well I do not have the Subaru XT repair manual, so i just put the spark plugs in to drive the car home, so if you know the gap, it would be highly appreciated . 4. What should the oil pressure gauge read at idle???? sometimes mine is right around 40 and then other times its at like 15 . 5. The Seat Belt on my side door is broken the way it slides, it looks like the cable came undone, how difficult is that to fix, I know the motor is good, I can hear it turning, its just the cable came off. Thats all I can think of for now. Again I want to thank all for any help and advice you can offer. I really love my xt and can not wait to get her running strong, and eating CIVICs . Where i live, its like ricer centeral, and well even though the XT is still not running the best, I killed a civic today going to 55 mph at this stop light in my home town, I mean i owned this guy in a 87 Subura XT that looks not too good and is not running the best, and it has 213,XXX miles. I love this car . Thanks again
  8. Hi ya'll , i got my 87 subaru XT yesterday and i LOVE IT:lol: . It is the most fun car i have ever driven, except the subaru wrx i once drove, but anyways, the XT is awesome, but I am a nerd that loves the 80's  , wish I lived the 80's, but I was born in 85. So with that said I want the cool digital cluster for my XT . I know it has a turbo gauge and i do not have a turbo, but i do not care. SO first I need the digital dash, the one for a manual, not the automatic so if you have one laying around TELL ME . Second What do i need to get the digital dash working in the subaru???? Like what sensors and what not. PLEASE TELL ME:grin: Thanks a ton.
  9. Hi, I just joined today, and I just bought my first subaru yesterday from a buddy of mine. It's a 87 subaru xt gl  . its the base model i guess you would say, and i was wondering if i could put the digital cluster from a turbo model into this one. I know the turbo part will not work, but i do not care. I just want the kewl looking 80's digital dash Thanks.
