  1. The question is could this of damaged the engine and how big of a deal should I make out if this
  2. johnsons subaru in middletown ny. i figure the mechanic forgot to drain the oil and just added 5 quarts... i drove the car 6 miles but idk how many miles the dealer put on it since the oil change. the car is certified but i want it in writing that if anything happens to the engine its their fault. they feel horrible about the mistake.
  3. Ok,so I just got this car and my other 2013 impreza I had was much better than this one off three line.I found they (the dealor) had 10 quarts of oil in it.
  4. I know this is normal but with the cvt trans my 2013 impreza is a dog from a stop for two seconds or so then it accelerates ok.like it's starting out in second gear if it was a normal trans. Any mods?tricks?
  5. i also have the same issue on my 96. when i got it it had 2 new aftermarket axles in front with NO ROLL pins. the pass side was clicking even though it was looking brand new so i replaced with a stock old used one.clicking gone .question? i thought the center shaft ujoint were not replacable? i can see pressing them out but how do u center the new ones and hold them in place?
  6. Ok thanks , so the two 1998ish engines go in the aluminum bin and I'm gonna see if the 2001 starts and go from there.I can get the engine for the scrap aluminum price so it's cheap
  7. Current engine had external antifreese leak.I got the car cheap.the sub rad stuff fixed it.car is for stepson and was thinking about having a spare engine hanging around.think there's a 2001 here also.
  8. I have a 06 impressa non turbo 2.5 stick that I want to rebuild an engine for.there are a few Subarus I can use for parts.I have a 97 outback that runs perfect but leaking exh into rad.and I have a 98 outback that broke a timing belt.both outbacks are in a junk yard and will be cut up for parts.
  9. And thats all without bending over lol .anyone need any parts off the outback?
  10. Looks like the 2.5 has head gasket problem.I doubt I have the energy to do a engine swap.maybe Ill swap the struts for some more ground clearance. Is this the stuff subaru sells for this hg problem?
  11. oh that sounds like WORK! yuck lol i topped off the rad on the 2.5 (was a pint low) overflow was almost full ( not a good sign unless previous owner did it) and drove 50 miles. gonna check it out in a few . yea it was still full, got a few ounces in it before it was up to the overflow tube.
  12. fun? ha! ive been a mechanic for 40 years. my back is shot. fun is driving a new car lol.
  13. yea i meant 2.2 .... i drove the outback home today. its a much nicer ride on the highway.the outback is def a 2.5 and i get ya with the spark plugs. i solved my problem! i took both home lol. ill drive the outback till something goes wrong and then move on to the legacy 2.2 i should put the outback struts on the legacy lol. im actually surprised cause the outback is loaded but it doesnt have power door locks. i want power door locks! :-)
