  1. Hello I was wondering if an axel from a 98 legacy would work on a 92 legacy.
  2. Hello, They all have the ej25 phase two engine. The big thing you need to look out for is head gasket leaks. They leak externally rather then the phase ones which leak internally. Before going into any of them I would check to see if they have been done. None of ads say they were so it's something you really want to check. The first one price wise is good but I would be Leary with the power steering pump it could be something easy there could be other issuses connected to it. The baja price is actually low at least from what I have seen. The 2000 forester looks to be on the pricer side but it depends on mileage. I hope I was helpful. HAS
  3. Well I finally got around to checking the front differential and it's clean it actually looks like someone changed it recently. It was taken to another shop who said they believed it was the front differential.
  4. I'll take a look when I see my friend next. It's been making the noise for a couple months so the damage might have been done and unfortunately the dealership claims there is nothing wrong.
  5. Hello everyone! I just some questions regarding my friends 1997 impreza. It has 200000 miles on the car but the engine has only 100000 miles. The car makes a loud whining coming from the front of the car while driving it also makes a chugging noise. The car almost sounds like a train. I was wondering if this could the front differential. I ask cause the warranty ends in two weeks and I wanted to make sure the problem was identified before then. Thanks
  6. Thanks I figured it was the contacts just wanted another opinion and thanks for letting me know about the shifter. Just one more question is it normal for it to only have a hard time when it's cold
  7. Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone could answer a couple questions. I have 92 legacy fwd automatic transmission with 197000 miles on it and when it's cold it has a great deal of difficulty starting. It'll make a couple clicking noises and then it'll turn over and start. Id imagine it would have something to do with the starter. Another question I had is if it is normal for you to be able to shift just by bumping the shifter. You can only do it when it's out of park but when I'm driving if I or anyone else hits it it will slide into a different gear or between two gears. Thanks for all your help
  8. I have a 92 fwd legacy and according to the sticker on the door it says H rating but currently it has S rated tires on that the previous owner put on. I'm not sure if that is in any way bad for the car but there has been no issues with my own
  9. The hatch on my 92 legacy wagon doesn't open unless I push the bar down inside the hatch by hand. The previous owner of the car said they bought a kit when the issue first appeared and fixed it but unfortunately it no longer opens. I don't think it's the handle but from what's been explained to me there is a small piece of metal in the mechanism that is bent. I was wondering if there was an easy way to fix this. Also I noticed that when I let go of the gas pedal at higher speeds the car makes a err sound I was wondering if anyone knew what this could be.
  10. I haven't looked there but the wheel wells on 92 have no rust only the fenders. I will still take a look just to be safe. I haven't had much to do anything has I have been working a lot. Luckily for now it hasn't been happening but I'm sure it will come back soon.
  11. My 1992 subaru legacy has developed a weird issue with the left rear blinker in which it will work and then it will stop working as if the bulb went and the check engine light would turn on but then it would work again and the check engine would shut off. I asked the dealership near me if they knew what could cause it but they were baffled by it. So I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this before and if any knows what could be wrong.
  12. Thanks everyone I was thinking of doing all that. I'm not sure though whether it has a 105,000 one or a 60,000 one I'm probably going to do it very soon. I just replaced the alternator today as it siezed while I was in a busy intersection. I ended up having to get it towed and I was driving all over the place trying to find luckily there was one left up in Middletown but it was quite a drive out of my way. It's up and running now but I still have to fix the fuel leak that the guard caused.
  13. I bought a 1992 Subaru Legacy wagon this past week. When I bought the car I was told there was no issues with it. Four days after I got it I found that there was a gas leak coming from around the filler neck it is the metal part that goes into the tank it is rusted and there is a pin hole in it. I was wondering if this is part of the filler neck or its own piece. As I would like to get this fixed as soon as possible. Also I was wondering if I should get the timing belt done. The car has 192116 miles on it and the timing belt was done back at 116217 miles. If that needs to be is there anything else I should check? I know I need to get the water pump done when I do the timing belt but I wanted to make sure there are no future issues down the road besides general maintenance. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
