  1. The cam tower being clogged could definitely be a possibility. I may be wrong but I think I only hear it on one side. As for the o rings, so it was a bad idea to just use o rings huh? I mean I figured it would at least last a little while before they would go.
  2. So I just did a top end rebuild on my EA82, sent the lifters to Mizpah, brand new oil pump and seals, and I still seem to have a tick. Now I didn't have one before the rebuild, I did it due to a bad head gasket. Now it's really loud. I've driven it about 20 miles, probably 45 minutes of run time. The one thing I messed up on was that I didn't go to the dealership for the genuine cam tower o rings, but I would think that a regular o ring wouldn't cause this until later down the road. From what I've been reading, people say these will be loud for a bit after rebuild and that I should take her for a nice long ride. So should I be worried? From my understanding, the tick won't cause any damage it's just very irritating.
  3. So I just got done doing a reseal on my motor, and now I'm having problems with my idle. If I apply the brakes, the first pump sinks to the floor, then it build pressure. And when I hit the brake my idle goes down and it almost dies. Now At first I though okay, maybe it's my brake booster, but my rpms drop when I turn on my defrost at full blast as well. I've checked every single vacuum line and ground I could find like 10 times, nothing seems out of place. i have a fresh battery and new cables as well, so my next thought is maybe the alternator. If it's not that, anyone have any experience with this and have some input? I have a 90 loyale spfi btw
  4. So I eventually plan on doing the ej22 swap, I'm just working my way up and my ea82 still has some life in her. But the problem I have is that I suspect the radiator needs to be replaced. So my question is should I buy a new radiator for the ea82 and run that with the ej22 motor, or should I buy an ej22 radiator and modify it for ea82 and then use that for the ej22, and if so how would I go about doing that? Thanks guys!
  5. I'm suspecting the radiator is clogged. just bought the car, I have no idea of it's history but I can say that the rad doesn't look pretty. I would say I have to run a bit higher revs, but I also hear the ea82's like higher rpm's due to it's short stroke.
  6. So I eventually plan on doing an ej22 swap, but for the time being I'm slowly collecting parts while keeping my ea82 running. The thing is, she likes to get hot in white stuff up hills. so I've been thinking about swapping the radiator for a 2 core for the ea82. Would that be okay for the ej22 in the future? I would rather not buy the radiator for the ea82 and then have to get something when the swap comes around.
  7. I recently did a compression check on my ea82 in my loyale, and 3 of my cylinders were at 125 to 130, and one being at 90 psi. Now I have a gut feeling that I'm losing that compression from my head or head gasket because I just so happen to be leaking a bit of coolant from that particular head on that particular side where that piston would be. So my question is it worth redoing the gaskets and milling the heads, or is that motor pretty tired? I figured while I was at it I would do my timing belt and replace my water pump just to be safe, but that's money so I just wanna know if you guys think that money will be well invested. Also it has 193k and I hear these engines last a while if treated right.
  8. So I want to do a d/r swap in my 90 loyale, but the problem is my interior in blue and I've never seen a d/r console blue, I mainly see grey. would really like it to match, as grey would look kind of funky with everything else blue. Are there blue d/r consoles, or is there a way to change the color of those consoles? Or am I just gonna have to bite the bullet and deal with the funky shifter?
