  1. And buddy know the right size bit to use when drilling lug holes in the rim? Thanks!
  2. So my distributor rotates clockwise to advance, and its advanced as far as it can go befor hitting the coolant line. So if I rotate the plug wires counterclockwise and put the disty all the way back will I be in the same spot? And then be able to advance to the right time?
  3. I not sure if that would work? Removing that coolant line would be the easiest I would think, but would that cause any problems with the flow of coolant and/or performance ?
  4. *with the weber 32/36. I have the egr and all the other vac lines blocked. But with having the EA82 intake there is a short coolant line that comes out of the block and into the intake right where the distributor needs to move to advance to be timed right, I have it as far as it can go then it hits the coolant line coming out of the intake. So my question, can this line be blocked to allow me to get the timing set properly? Thanks for any help!
  5. So I have fitted an EA82 intake mani onto my EA81, with the weber intop
  6. Crazy! I've driven over ten miles on the highway (60mph) and through town to my house to find my gas cap ( tiny little aluminum gas cap ) on the roof if my GL in the exact spot I left it. First thing out of my mouth; "No Fu#%ing way." Haha gotta love it
  7. Got the weber swap done and car is running. Been driving it for a couple days and it is much quicker in the lower end and a hell of a lot louder idles good and runs smooth other than a sort of "flat spot" when giving it more throttle, almost as if its shorted on fuel or air? I also think the timing could use some adjusting but I can't advance the disty anymore because of a port and hose coming out of the intake manifold, into the block. (This is an EA81 motor with a weber on a EA82 intake manifold). But thinking I can remove and block that hose to get the timing dialed. So my question to the board is; what would you do to this setup to give it just that much more power/response/smoothness? Cap and rotor? Coil? Btw it's a 1982 GL 4x4. Thank you!

  9. So after finishing up the weber swap and starting to crank it over, it cranked for a while and sounded good, giving it a few tries to get the fuel all through the system, then all the sudden no power anywhere. No lights, nothing. Battery is good. Good connections to the wires coming off the terminals. All the fuses inside the car are good. So I'm stumped a because I don't know much about all the electrical wiring.. What should I check along the wires or fuses?? Thank you for any help
  10. Thanks everybody. So the ea82 springs do fit the bottom spring perch on the ea81 4x4 correct? And how much shorter are the springs?
  11. Ok so can I just run the FWD ea82 springs on the the ea81 4x4 struts?
  12. Any one have any leads or a pair of XT6 front springs?? Im trying to put them under an 82 gl with new struts to get a little bit of drop and stiffer spring rate. This should work right?? Any help/tips are much appreciated! thanks all!

And has anybody done this? how much lower are they than the 4WD struts? and can i use the stock 4WD springs? thanks guys!
  14. http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/1983/subaru/gl/suspension/strut_assembly.html Will these work on my 82' 4WD GL?? they are for front wheel drive 83'. im trying to get just a little bit lower by using FWD struts. Can i use the stock 4WD springs with these? Thanks!
  15. Does anyone know the part number for KYB front struts for FWD??
  16. So if I use FWD front struts I can use the stock 4WD springs and they will compress and be lower? And what about the rear? Thanks yall!
  17. well I already ordered the gr2s for 4WD. just wondering if I can cut the stock springs an inch or two. or if I can even run shorter springs with these struts. Thankyou!
  18. Any updates on this thing? or have you moved it to a different thread?
  19. My question here is can you use kyb struts for stock replacement but use a shorter spring to get even just an inch lower? if so is there a spring I can get or would it be alright to just cut the stock springs? This is a 82' 4WD GL. also what about the back? I know I can adjust the torsion bar but idk where its sitting at the moment and if it will get low enough to match the front.
  20. Ohh you bet I won't! Found a ea81 long block gonna do the transplant soon and add my webber to this one
  21. i always kept water with me to top off. I should have drained all the water the last few days with it being so cold. but now i have to replace the engine and the radiator. I learned the hard way this time
  22. About an hour out of seattle. Im going to look for a re-built ea81 but i will keep checking the junk yards to see if they get one in. If anyone comes across one in this area please let me know! thank you
