  1. went to dump oil in my ea82 while it was running and the oil almost blew right back out of the filler! Something with the PCV?
  2. Awesome! I didn't wanna check valves clearances anyways! Haha. I'll be sure to check all the timing marks this weekend. Thanks!
  3. I'll double check the timing when I do the valves this weekend. I know the carb is clean, I rebuilt it about a month ago and cleaned it up really good. Couldn't get the jets out so I just blew them out as best as I could. Would a plugged up exhaust play a role in it running lean?
  4. I am getting a bit of a tapping sound like valves or almost a dieseling noise under acceleration with a load. Also, its been running lean since I've owned it. The plugs come out white. Any Ideas??
  5. recently replaced the dried out valve cover gaskets that were leaking like crazy on my ea82. Also had a buddy tint the windows! (not pictured) currently in the process of rebuilding the hitachi carb.
  6. my ea82 gl wagon has an aftermarket radio in it, and it only works when the head lights/running lights are on? not much of an electrician so I was hoping someone could shed some light on the situation! Thanks!!
  7. Thanks for the advice! You pretty much nailed all my questions! ???? I was curious about how they react to opening up the exhaust, a friend of mine has a connection to muffler shop and we were thinking just replace the cat and open up the exhaust to a 2" and replace the muffler.
  8. Bought an 86 GL Wagon with 222k on the carb'd 1.8l. The interior is rough being from Arizona, but everything else is clean! I've always loved Subaru's and this was just to good to pass up! Anyways, what I am thinking about doing upgrade wise is; - A little bit of lift and larger tires. If anyone knows of a tires size that it would clear at stock height that would be helpful aswell! Also I have contemplated wheel spacers. - Eliminate the Cat. Conv. (Its really sluggish at the top of the RPM range, so I am assuming its plugged.) - Advance the timing a couple degrees, from what I have read that's an easy way to get a little out of it - Possibly swap the Hitachi for a Weber - Replace the ugly interior parts - Roof Rack and Bumpers If anyone has some input, information or insight please feel free to add! Thank You!!!
