  1. Thanks fellas! I have been chasing down the same thing in my 84 GL 2 door hardtop coupe'. Maybe I can get the defroster running again! Pretty essential out here in cold rain country!
  2. Thanks to all of you guys, especially ruparts for cluing me to the fact that I have an E81 and the 84 is not like an 85 or newer. and thanks to jono for the heads up on the rack differeces. Also to grossgary for the electric XT pump idea. I have printed this page because there's a lot of info here, and my forgetter has gotten better than my rememberer.
  3. My '84s does not have power steering and that is a real pain in the arms! I put a suicide knob on it which helps a little. I have a Haynes repair book that doesn't show much on '84's. Would an 84 have had a gear drive PS pump mounted into the block or a belt drive? This LOOKS like it might be a real big project for an old guy...Has anyone done this swap?
  4. Hm. What's uglier than a box of rocks? Let me THINK a second here....oh yea, fake convertible tops and fake wire wheels. If way ugly different makes it a collector car, you hit the jackpot!
  5. Thanks you guys! My pan was really hammered, so I pulled it (what a fun little puzzle!), straightened it, cleaned it, painted it, and re-installed. Underneath, whenever I remove something it gets cleaned and painted (even if sparkly silver is all I have at the time) before re-install. Most of you already know, but don't hurt to mention to only put gasket goop on the pan side. Cheers! Joe
  6. LOL, man. That's a long ways off! I am an old horse trader and never know when a deal is going to come down. Besides which, YOU are in Tenne-damned-see, and I am over in Washingfuckton!
  7. Yo Morristown, TN! I will certainly SELL it to you for the right price! Make me an offer - who knows?
  8. Thanks, you guys, but I just need to know where to look for it and where does the push-pull electrical connector go? NEVER replace a nut or bolt without never seize on it. YOU may be the one taking it off next time.
  9. Ok so...the light is on on the dash. The car RUNS just fine. If I do not have to pass any inspections, is there any reason to go thru the hassle of changing my O2 sensor? I have a new Bosch and hear they are not the best anyhow. I will have more questions later as there are some tubes at the carb with screws in them deadheading them...Thanks guys! Joe in Washington state
  10. This 84 Subaru GL 2dr hardtop 2 wheel drive 5 speed is my first Subaru, and it looks like I wandered into the RIGHT PLACE.
