  1. 1978 Subaru Brat for sale. Found in barn 2 years ago and been restoring ever since. Recently I bought a barn/stables with horses and have no more time to put into this brat and its taking up space. I have put 3k into it and have tons of extra parts including dashboard in near perfect condition(with gauges), extra axles, 2nd air condition(both work great), extra lights, lenses, compressors, starters, etc to keep this thing running smooth. I would say this is 90% restored and all the parts are included in order to complete. I would even throw in an engine lift. She is running but it's best that she is trailered to her new home. 469-five hundred 6766.
  2. Hacking it up? Everything I've done is bolt on and can be removed without attitude. The topper was not up to par. I salvaged what I could
  3. Nah. I think I'm just going to enjoy this car for as long as a year, then move on. The dashboard replacement looks like it's gonna be a bitch and I've yet to get to the air conditioning. For a long time I've really wanted to do a toyota fj40 or 60 project. Keep a look out. I might have this brat posted for sale any day now
  4. I really appreciate the compliments. Hopefully this weekend I can continue with the preparation of the flares before painting. Next few weeks will be cutting/prepping/mounting the "topper/cowl" and working on the brakes including pads up front. I'm optimistic about having this 1 1/2 project come to an end before Feb. But I will say this... after my wife saw the brat this week, she's asked me to look into making her Porsche Panamera into a dually as well.lol. I looked all over the internet for a gooseneck trailer with a deck not much longer then 5 feet and a single 3500# axle. It doesn't exist, much less one with a low profile. I'm waiting to hear back from a guy that can make a custom trailer so I could possible mount a bbq pit to pull behind the brat to tailgate parties, etc. This brat does have a bumper pull hitch but from what I hear, it has a 200# max tongue weight and rumor has it that Subaru suggested that this vehicle not pull a trailer. I guess they never imagined someone would mount a gooseneck hitch in the back.
  5. A few before and after shots of interior. I just got my hands on a dashboard with just 1 hairline crack. When I opened the box, the person that removed it from previous brat left all the instrument panels in it. Should be a challenge to install.
  6. 5th wheel would have taken too much room so instead, i installed a gooseneck with 2 5/16 ball that can be turned over to lay flat when not in use. I included a 6 way connection inside the bed, mostly due to new Texas laws which require most any trailer with 2 axles to have brakes. I chose electric brakes over surge brakes. I'm keeping a look out for a cool ultra mini travel trailer or maybe even a bbq pit trailer I can customize into a gooseneck trailer.
  7. The cowl on the roof is just sitting there not yet fabricated to my specifications yet. its actually the front section of the topper I chopped off. I dont really think i'll ever wanna drive around with topper and it was just sitting in back yard so i decided to just kinda use it as a aerodynamic windscreen. If thats called a cowl...so be it
  8. Why? Why not? I've spent so much time on this barn find, I just had to make it a little different.
  9. Completed the fabrication over the weekend. Still need to touch up the fenders including painting. Test drive this afternoon was successful. No shimmy at 68 mph fwd, nor 48 mph 4wd.
  10. fenders are in perfect condition except for some very light surface rust. I do have hood rod but not the clip
  11. i have a 1978 Brat for sale in Dallas, TX. I was using it for a few parts for my rebuild. Engine intact except for removal of oil pump. It was running until I removed it along with alternator and compressor. Tranny,4x4,body panels are completely intact. Interior is pretty much gutted.
  12. Had issues posting several photos so I placed ad on Dallas Craigslist. http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/pts/5303007937.html Make me an offer on anything. I pretty much took off what I needed for my rebuild
  13. Whats left: All body panels excluding tail gate. NO dings but a few spots of surface rust that 10 seconds of sanding removes. original black carpet engine and anything that mounts to it excluding air conditioner parts 2 wheels plus spare, all with good rubber; including jack and hardware all glass. front shield does has 1 small chip. rear window is single piece front push bar(aftermarket) grill with 4 headlights Feel free to text/email with any request. I'm actually working on my brat project today

  15. just picked up a 1978 Brat i'm going to use as a parts car. Nearly completely intact. I'm keeping brake lights, hub caps, air conditioning components and front grill. let me know if I can pull/ship anything to you. Tried to upload photos but site said they were too big. email me at: randy_massey at the ol' yahoo.com or text 214 five hundred 6766.
  16. I need the tail lamps as shown in the photo. primarily the passenger side. I have a 78
  17. Yes, that's an axe mounted on the front. Just installed stereo with blue tooth this week.
  18. Most updated photo. Pulling engine within month to replace all gaskets and paint compartment. Seats being reupholstered now. Interior is gutted to rewire new radio, speakers, Bluetooth mike and overhead driving lights. Having really good luck on ebay finding miscellaneous parts. The only thing I really need is a new windshield. Havnt started looking yet but I don't foresee any problems.
  19. I found this brat in a barn when we recently started a heavy highway project in north Texas. Discovered original buyer still owned the car but he died 18 months after purchase with under 12,000 miles. I tracked down his grandkids and offered $500. It was covered up with 2 small rust marks in the cab, a few dents and scratches from having equipment on top of it for 30 years and most all the rubber throughout was brittle. I hooked up a new battery and poured fuel down the carb and ....waalaa! It not only fired up but it idled. I never restored a car before but when too muddy to work, I put a crew on it. We are nearly done with all body, paint, interior and will be pulling the engine to rebuild within the month.
