  1. Yeah Ok @carfreak85 here’s the story, @1 Lucky Texan Yes. I have a Metromile pay per mile insurance that calculates the miles I drive via GPS tracking. And theres a nifty map of where my car is parked. mostly designed to prevent street sweeping tickets in SF. they send me a text when I have parked in street sweeping zones. So as soon as I realize it had been taken. I went to where the car was last parked. First image 11:41 Chapman to market 11:56pm. When it was stolen from me and driven to a dark sketchy zone in Oakland under the 880. Humorously, about a 10 min walk from Oakland police department. It was not there , I drove the entire area and decided it was either long gone, or must have been stashed somewhere off the steet. I think possibly at one of the storage lots under the 880. I did not receive single from GPS for next 24hours. So they didn’t drive it at first after stealing it. I was watching the map all day Wednesday hoping to get a signal. Then Thursday at lunch it popped back up on GPS! A couple friends and I drove West Oakland following GPS about five minutes behind... We were on the phone with Oakland PD trying to get more eyes looking for it. Let me first say this. Oakland PD have a rough rump roast job, and better things to do than find a 26 year old Subaru. I get it. I’ve lived here 10 years and seen the stuff they have to deal with needless to say it would be a hard place to be a police officer. I mean no disrespect to law enforcement. But in this situation they were absolutely no help and a huge waste of my time. The do not follow/ do not chase policy, means they are pretty much unable to get involved unless the vehicle is stopped and parked. But to do that they would actually have to be looking for it. They actually called me to say “we saw your car but it drove away” At that point I realized it was pretty much up to me to retrieve vehicle. Decided to go back to the location they had taken if first it the night it was stolen. There it was parked. I jumped out of the 92 Legacy SS and drove the Loyale home. There was a crack pipe and .5 g of rock in my center console. Sucks for them. Everything I owned, info, records and proof of registration and insurance. Keys to my steering lock (that was that was on floor) had all been ditched. Maybe a spare key... I can’t remember... Dash was torn apart but they didn’t unplug the gps! Besides the other unwanted trash, crack pipes and stash, and smell of crack head left in the car. They did leave this guy DROWZEE Pokémon card. Im not a big fan of car names but I caught this one and it’s sticking! Welcome home Subie DROWZEE wagon. I’ll tell you what Ive never cleaned it so well and going to switch all cloth seats to leather as soon as i see a good set at the pick n pull. Getting something you care about back makes you want to make it better! So DROWZEE is going to get sleepier! It’s 2.2 ej swap time. If anyone has swap parts or a 90-94 2.2l ej or anything you’d like to see used on this wagon, in Bay Area or Colorado area I’m looking For upgrades! Thanks again! Luke
  2. FOUND! Self recovery from the crack heads that were driving it around Oakland. No damage beside stereo to torn apart and the smell of crack head... Having a gps locator onboard was the saving grace. Thanks for all the support USMB! Im adding in a secret ignition kill switch. FYI -I’m pretty sure my ignition lock is so old. any worn down Subaru “skeleton” key would have work. Doesn’t look like they hot wire bypassed.. we won’t discuss that to much online but you may want to check it out for yourself. Luke
  3. No. It up on wagonsteez IG . But fb groups. If you know know some local ones that might not mind the post send um my way I’ll post there thanks
  4. My Loyale was stolen last night. Just I ncase anyone in the SF Bay Area spots this one on the road. it was stolen 5/15 please contact me Luke - 808 seven 56 five 705
  5. Nope. The lift started it... Used to tear up reman boots on inside joint. but then I dropped subframe, And got rebuild Subaru Axles and thought I was going to be good for at least 15k miles . But now they're clicking and popping during accellaration and in turns and with scrapping sounds. Just got a boot banding tool so I can open these up and see what's going on inside. The noise sounds like the retaining clip has sprung and is scraping around during rotation. But on both sides?!?
  6. Edit I'll be in Eugene OR for Christmas, does anyone have mechanic recommendations my 92 Loyale could use. Stock ea-82 w/ 160k, Dr swap, 2 inch SJR lift, 1.5 sub frame drop. Rear disc. Toyota rear struts with Accord springs. I've done the majority of work myself but just cant do another axle job. Im starting to think its something to do with me and not the axles. I got rebuilds from Marshall at FW Enterprises I'm looking for someone that would appreciate some of the not so stock things about it help me improve the suspension and advise on engine maintenance. I am moving to Denver next summer so I might wait to work with some of the mechanics out there. Seems like there are more options. Thanks
  7. Not sure what, but something is draining my battery. Background- Battery died. Very low voltage. No Charging. Decided to get new alt. Swapped in a 90amp maxima alt with this style (no connector plug.) Photo from this thead. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/97208-bolt-in-ea-series-alternator-upgrade-nissan-maxima-alt-installation-guide/page-6?hl=%20conditioning%20%20ea82 During connection of two plug wires. I touched them, with battery connected.. Followed with a puff of smoke from the fusible link box. Went in, replaced with inline fuses. Battery tested bad. Got a new battery. Battery is still dropping voltage. Believe I have traced Parasitic draw to hazard, clock, fuze, as a current is present across that fuse. Pulled out clock found burned out connection. Clipped out clock entirely. They never keep time anyway. Still, theres a draw on battery. With hazards on only rear blinkers come on. Is that normal? Could there be a short somewhere causing drain? Could use some ideas. Im stumped. Thanks
  8. Ha wow. Well the CV for sure. It really just sh** out everywhere. What a mess. She said the steering got a little weird and but could see no visual problem. So drove on if further untill complete blowout / disconnect. How dangerous can a axle failure be? Seems a little wild! This was a new axle I had just installed. Ol Loyal is really not likin the 2" lift. I like it VVV . Really need to get that crossmember/ subframe droppped.
  9. Hello my 92loyale with dr swap Is in trouble!!! I am out of town and car broke down on girl friend...from what she has told me- Car has no power to wheels like it's not in gear. Stick "swims" into first but just revs. No power. Happened suddenly while she was driving. If you have experienced this I would appreciate the advice.
  10. Mason, They are different 4wd systems, push button is solenoid controlled and engages all 4 wheels with power but in more of a AWD style. I think... while the 4WD dual / range is a manual gear engagement. of a LOW or HI gearing option. This is preferred in a off road applications for the gearing options as well as how transfer of power to the wheels is better. er.. uh yeah, thats about as far as I go dude. read up on other members builds. There is all the info you could ever try to learn . All the best.
  11. Edit* Moved to members rides build tread section. Picked it up in Seattle drove it back to Oakland. 1200 miles later. Adventure approved! Rambn Wagon is a weekend adventure vehicle. A sweet update from my 87 Wagon Gl "Leon" My first Soob. Stoked to have got this awesome wagon through USMB. Nice guy up in Seattle. Thanks! Previous owners have put some nice workin into project. Only fitting it seams most of the work was done somewhere in the WA forest at a subaru custom garage. Fellow named Lance Telling made the rear bumer/Spare arm. And did most the work on the vehicle as far as I am aware. Not sure if you're on USMB but good job dude Where she sits 140k Dual range Swap Rear Disc 15s Pugs Intake rotate "Under hood snokel" Custom rear Bumper Tire Arm Plans Lift 2inch Square DL HID Headlight swap Maxima Alt conversion Suspension- Rear -Toyota KYB with Stock Spring Front -Stock ford spings if I can find at local picknpull Custom- steel round Front light bar/bumper Winch under bumper mount Skid plate Roof Basket Fold out tow tongue Current issues to fix 1) Only had one "field" fix on drive down the Coast. After a very loud first drive. Felt around breathing in exhaust till I found the hot air blasting out of the exhaust man gasket. Only 4 bolts, 2 new gaskets and 10$ in A cold walmart parking lot should have only taken 30 min. but of course even after long PB Bastr soak. The last bolt came out thread full of Alu so. back to O'reillies for tap and bolts... Held the whole trip... tap job was not clean but it held for 1200 miles. so im happy with it for now. BUT... there must be more exhaust leaks cause damn! she smells at idle.. Going to switch some stuff from Gl this weekend to try to pass smog next week. If i sniff around under the hood I always go to EGR valve area. Thinking a new gasket and a good clean might help. But also going to search around when I have more time and check vacuum leaks. Whats best way? spray something and looking for idle increase? Any areas I should check first or advice would be appreciated! 2) Has a slight lifter tick on port side and valve cover leak on other side... 3) Etape CEL fix needs to be sorted out. Right now im thinking to try n rewire to adjacent light so that it behaves like it should on key turn to pass smog. Need to check for codes but previous owner said it has been perm on since D/r trans swap... Don't understand what would cause that to go chasing right now so the electrical trick is easier i hope.. just to get through smog.. Anyone Ever had problems with D/r swap into Loyale i'm assuming its from a GL judging on center console but that could be from different what ever its from it looks fresh! nice and clean! Alright here some photos! Thanks

  13. Smells like vacuum leak

  14. Strong exhaust fumes at idle

  15. Yes I apologize for limited info. It is a potential car I am buying so I didn't do swap myself. Previous owner who did said that the (far right cel now covered with electrical tape has been on since swap.) said that some ol time sub mechanics tried to figure it out but couldn't think that something to do with different transmission to dash connection. Since that swap is common I figured there would be some others who have faced it.. But couldn't find much searching the forums. so now I'm asking. Just trying to get some ideas before I get to it. Hasn't been an issue for owner in Wa but I am relocation this car from Wa to Ca. Where I will auto fail a smog test with that light on. Not sure about the speedo cable. But I will ask.
  16. Hello, Is CEL common after D/r Swap into push button Loyales? Pretty sure the original Trans was manual due to dash unless that was switched with center console Unsure of original vehicle of D/r Trans, non locking... Any one have any experience with this? I would appreciate some advice. Thanks
  17. Hello USMB, Oh I have lurked these forums waiting for the day that I might actually have a sub of my own. Today I finally joined the club! I got a 1987. GL hi/lo with 180k on the clock but well cared for. Engine runs nicely. My only concerns from maiden voyage home were clutch, feels harder than i would think is normal. But I really dont know whats normal for this era. Also steering is really hard (sometimes) like no power steering. 87 must have had power steering right??? Wow, call me a noob if youve ever seen. I apologize, But what can I say im excited. first pics
