  1. Ya know, that is something I haven't thought of doing. Gonna have to try that. Though i have noticed that after playing with the big trucks at the mud pits, they are so packed full of mud and crud that they actually don't rattle for a day or so, until i wash out from under it or the mud dries and eventually falls out
  2. Make sure that the cooling system is clean and in good working order, I have the clutch fan and electric fan in both my cars, and always make sure coolant is clean and topped off, and both have good radiators in them. My 91 has a newer radiator in it, and my 89 has a known good radiator in it. The 91 has AC and even in the hottest weather, with AC runnin, the engine stays cool. Guage never ever goes above 1/3. My 89 has all the ac stuff removed, and only rarely does the electric fan ever kick on. Only when going at slow speeds up steep hillclimbs on the hotter days, off road, so i ain't moving fast. I live in the southeast, so hot temps and high humididty are the norm down here. I also make sure to keep my radiator in the 89 as clean as possible when playing in the mud, and we love to play around here
  3. Yep, check the heat sheilds. Mine rattle like hell on my 89, but I kinda like to have them on there, because the bottom ones are nice and thick, and seem to take the abuse from rocks and other things that might otherwise damage the exhaust. Also kinda cool to see someone else on here from just one county north of me.
  4. Got 2 91 Loyales both without auto seat belts. Had a 92 Loyale here, and 2 92 Legacys all with auto belts, and both Legacys didn't have airbags
  5. Fuels about $3.33 a gallon, about $60 a month for liabillity insurance on 2 vehicles, $29 a year for registration, $5 or so for tax on each car, and $13.90 for inspection
  6. They look the same on my 89 and the 91. And i don't want to put a bright white hatch on a dark red car.
  7. Got an 89 GL with busted out glass in the hatch, and a 91 parts car. What the best way to remove the window from my 91, and install in the 89. neither one looks to be glued in, just a seal, and don't look to dificult. Or is it better to just pay the pros?
  8. Clogged radiator. I have had 3 do this to me in the last couple of years. try to fluch the red real good, or replace with a known good one or new one.
  9. Took my 89 out to the mud pits to play yesterday and had a blast! Got stuck a few times, but it still did ok,being on stock 13" tires. Did end up with the glass busted out of my hatch gettin pulled out by a duramax chevy with a leadfooted driver Anyone ever use plexyglass to replace one of these windows? This car is used in the woods and mud all the time,
  10. I have been getting my bearings from fastenal. Can't beat the price, but i highly recomend pulling the seals and regreasing them. They put hardly any grease in them. i pack mine with marine grade grease and seems to do good, especially because i cant keep my car out of the mud.
  11. Change it anyway. Subaru only for the t stat. These things do wierd spoob with aftermarket t stats
  12. You can shift into low while movinh, just dont be going too quick. i go from low to hi on the fly almost on a daily basis and aint hurt a thing yet.
  13. Been getting worse mileage here also. Went from averaging 25-30 mpg to about 20 -25 mpg with my 89 gl. I'm guessing its the winter gas.
  14. Pulled the ac evaperatofrom under the dash in my 89. Was glogged up so bad no air could pass through. Now the heat works great.
  15. Replaced a front axle wheel bearings and tie rod end in the 89, and put in a "new" used battery in my 91. Also got some good used tires to replace the racing slicks on my 89.
  16. I got 2 EA82s with over 300,000 on them. It ain't gonna hurt a thing to wrap these little motors out to 7k rpm. The best performace gain for these motors is a heavy right foot!

I got an old cobra 29 and a small amp run into a wilson 1000. Havent had this stuff hooked up for a few years. 6Th Ave and simms st. in that pic right? That was a good lil hill to talk at when I lived out there. And Hyden park down the road. Lookout mountain was great when you really wanted to make some noise.
  18. My 91 Loyale 4wd has 315 ,000 miles and drives great down the road.
  19. I also have a mystery pop evey now and then in both my ea82 cars. I still have yet to find what it is. And they are both at stock height. I have just decided to let it ride for now,
  20. Check the bushing on the front diff mount. If its wore out it will clunk.
  21. Check youre rear brakes. i was having a similar issue. no pressure when i first hit the brakes< but after a pump or two, the pedal was ok. Oh, and when i would hit them, the fronts were locking up real easy. made for a fun trip on wet roads. Anyway, pulled the drums and found that the pass. side shoes were just hanging out in the drum. the liners were in the drum, and the backing plates hit the ground as soon as i pulled the drum.
  22. I painted up my wagon whells and got some good tires mounted on them. My GL looks good with them on there! Alot nicer lookin than the black steelies.
  23. I put a good radiator that i had laying around in my 89 GL and picked up a set of wagon wheels at the junkyard yesterday.
