  1. Well, it's been two weeks and I figured I post the dealerships results, given that there are 88 views to my original issue, at the time of this post. It took the crew at the dealership 3 days to come to a diagnosis. (Not that I find that unreasonable. It simply takes time to work through an issue's cause and effects to come to the appropriate conclusions.) The culprit? A bad ECM (engine control module). With an oil change, the ECM part and labor the total came to $1,350. Most might be upset by the amount, but I figured I've been well off in terms of car repair costs so far. That, and after two and a half weeks without a car, I was definitely ready to get mine back!
  2. I'm new to the "Subie" world. Bought my Legacy 3.6L in 2013 (two years old at the time). Everything was gong great until it randomly died out at the top of my driveway. I couldn't get it started for 20 minutes. When it did start, I drove it 200 feet and it died out again. Saved a $350 tow bill having family help me get it an hour and a half away to the nearest dealership. It was under recall for the fobs (they send a signal telling the engine to shut off) but this did not correct the issue. Mechanics drove it after the fob reset and it stalled out on them. They don't know what's wrong with it. The computer doesn't kick out any codes. It may not be related at all, but this issue only happened after I pulled the 4 and 25 fuses to check for headlight issues (and the rear defroster isn't working). Normally I don't mess with anything under the hood! The one time I do......BAM. Anyone have any idea what's causing this?
