  1. It had antifreeze in it, I topped off last Monday. I just think it's funny that I did an oil change and not even 700 miles later the oil has gone. And it's not only the the exhaust system that's billowing smoke, it's also the engine compartment. And this car didn't do that when I bought it. All I know is I can't drive it, and it's stuck 74 miles away from my front door
  2. Yeah, it's billowing clouds of white smoke. And the oil dipstick showed no oil even though it was changed last week.
  3. Apparently, I can't solve this problem now because I have bigger problems now... like the head gasket blowing on my way back from my aunt's funeral
  4. Blew a head gasket Saturday night on my way back from my aunt's funeral. What makes it bad was that I just got the oil changed last Monday and it didn't have any oil on the dipstick... And it started to overheat, I immediately pulled over, and it's not looking good at all... I had her fluids topped off when I serviced her too.
  5. True. I just have to learn my way around the engine, lol
  6. Got new wipers and hubcaps yesterday... And took the first of many trips to Charlotte. Also managed to hit 250k miles in the way down...
  7. I kinda figured as much. I've even had a couple coworkers tell me the same thing.
  8. Here you are for reference: They are mounted rearward of the C-Pillar about 1/4 length of the rear quarter glass panel, on a seatbelt mount.
  9. Hi all, My Loyale is stalling at idle, when I turn it over, it immediately dies about 85% of the time. If I have to downshift, it also stalls when I engage the clutch pedal, resulting in me having to coast and restart. When I come to a complete stop, it also stalls out, resulting in me having to turn it over and accelerate rapidly just to keep from stalling again. Can anyone help me diagnose this problem?
  10. Hello all, I am new here (to Subarus, this forum, and the like) and I'd like to share this saga of "Drivin' Miss Subie" which comes to you in the form of a 1991 Loyale Wagon. She's a 5-speed, 4WD, with ~250k miles on her, and she runs, albeit poorly. Interior is fairly decent considering her age, and the body is ~85% solid. Yes, it was a bargain buy ($300). PO got rear-ended, so it was salvage titled, which means I can't use the rear hatch. Her main downfall: She stalls at idle. I'm trying to figure out the problem, and then I will go from there. I was actually shocked that it came with power windows and A/C. Here she is currently in my driveway as we speak:
  11. What did I do to my Subie, you ask? Well, let's see... 1) Paid $300 to drive it home, plus made it legal. 2) Proudly became a new Subaru owner. 3) Found this cool forum to show it off on. 4) Snapped these pics of her.
  12. Hello all, new to this forum, and new to Subies in general. I was looking in general for a DD when I stumbled across this '91 4WD Loyale Wagon on CL for $300 last Tuesday. It was salvage titled due to it being rear ended, which basically leaves me without a hatch. So, I figured, "what the hey, I'll just save it." It has a fair amount of surface rust, some of which has eaten through the body, but only around the wheel wells and the like. It's a 5-speed, power windows, AC, still has the factory AM/FM stereo installed, and it has around 250k on it. It runs and drives, albeit poorly, and the interior is in decent shape with no flaws. The only two quirks I have with it so far (I just bought it and drove it home today) is it shuts off at idle 80% of the time, and the wheels are too small for my likings. Other than that, it's a pretty decent car for what it's worth. Most of my co-workers own Subies (mainly Fozzies and Legacy Outbacks), but now I stand alone in the Loyale Department, but at least I fit in with them now, lol
