Very helpful and I am learning. Have recently spoken with two shops that do a lot of these. One says 4200$ which includes resurfacing the heads, valve lapping and removal of the engine. Other shops says if it never got hot $15-1700. aftermarket( best) gaskets and they leave the engine in. This is from a long time well respected foreign car repair shop about 1/2 hr from us. Their mechanic has done "hundreds" and they stand behind their work and "don't have problems with them" While we are not making an immediate decision it is nice to know our options. We do like the car and hate to dump it. Have a nice 2.0 2015 Impreza also. Belive the 2.0 never has the HG problem?? Based on idosubaru's criteria blue goo is not for us.. like the detail.thxs thanks to all,

08 Legacy head gaskets are leaking. Live in So. NH and looking for a recommendation for a shop in the so nh, mass north shore area. My regular mechanic does not do them. Trying to stay away from the dealers..Have spoke with other mechanics but NO ONE has given me any confidence. I know there are independent engine shops within an hour from us but really want an experienced shop. Any idea what it might cost for both sides? Why is there not a solid thread on this MB about all the head gasket issues?? What is blue goo and does it work? thanks,

Doing new rear rotors and pads. new rotor is bottoming out on a rusty backing plate. Wheel would not turn upon assembly when lugs were tightened. Removed caliper and retainer and used washers to shim lug nuts and tightened. Drum locked up. Tried old one and it was fine and spun when tightened. Seems to be a rust problem on the backing plates so I have tried a chisel to knock to plate back. This is not the outer backing plate but a smaller thicker inner ring and it fits into a groove in the drum. trying to find any info? should I try to replace backing plates? Grind and pound ring in? appears to have loosened a bit after chisel adjustment..thanks for your advice..Paul

Hi, 2015 bluetooth with back up camera screen. Been having trouble with my bluetooth since getting the car in May. Paired it with my apple I5 at the dealer and the salesman walked me through operation. I get that it switches slow and you have to be patient. I control the Pandora from the dash. Prefer to plug direct sp I can charge while driving. Sometimes I just cannot get it to go into Pandora. Can usually get it to Pandora on my phone and then BT it. Not ideal .. Sometimes I just have trouble getting BT to play podcasts. Operate in areas with good signals and will have mostly full bars but still wont connect. Often says it is waiting to regain connectivity. Often wants me to turn off and on or plug and replug. These things usually dont work. Can I have full antenna bars but not have full bandwidth due to heavy traffic on the airways? Away for a few days so responses will be delayed:) Not a Luddite, thanks for any ideas. Paul
